Opinion time, you see the cam profile, it has around 11:1 compression, it has 2.02/1.60 valves, should I buy a performer rpm air gap dual plane, or a Victor junior? Keep in mind, this isn't a drag car.

Ya know, I’ve always liked the performer. Never had the RPM version.
Isn’t the Victor Jr a single plane intake?

Edit: get the carb you want, try out what you have. If you want more, then think about changing it out.

Since the cam is a Big Daddy Rattler maybe that should be the name of the car. IMO I think the carb/manifold combo will limit the engines performance some, what about an original Z28/LT1 manifold very good all around, I believe there are clones , the performer RPM is liked by many and is what I plan on using in my next build.

A Performer RPM with a 3310 vac. sec. Holley is a good combo. Not sure if the air gap is worth the extra money.

'70-'82 Corvette water pump has 3/4" shaft so a Corvette upper pulley won't locate properly on a regular SBC short pump. Can't offer any suggestion on a smaller than standard upper pulley I'm sorry. EDIT May not be 3/4" but definitely larger than regular SBC.

An Edelbrock Scorpion would be a cool vintage manifold for it.

Nonsence!, that’s why I struck a deal to buy all this nonsense. IMG_2773.jpeg IMG_2774.jpeg

Now back to our regularly scheduled program.

  16. I’ve got an original Edelbrock Torker that Lloyd is welcome to if he wants it. I have an Edelbrock Performer RPM that he can have as well.

Use the HEI out of a 3 rd Gen Camaro or Firebird with tuned port injection. It is a smaller diameter cap with an external coil. You might have to change the module to a 4 pin so it will work with a carb.

ditch that POS intake and carb. put a decent dual plane intake on it with a 750 Holley . Are you going to tow a trailer? It will make power from less than 3000 but you have to figure out how you are really gunna drive it and what rear gear your going to run. So many variables to a good set up ....It's all about looking at the big picture.

Think about having a 1970 LT1 and how you would drive it ....

You got O/D and tall tires in the rear. Put a 4.11 gear in it and you'll never be able to wipe the shit eatin' grin off your face! :D:cool::p Plus you'll get decent milage. ;)

  27. The cam will still make power below 3000, enough to get that wagon moving along and have a healthy reserve for the passing lane.
People get to caught up with reading statistics and think the engine will be non working outside the power band, the recommended power range is where the cam works optimal but millions of cars on the road going about their business are not working optimal.

I don’t think so, I can verify before work, but no advance in the distributor. It just spins, the brains do all the advance.

Good information about HEI fitment here. But I'm happy to hear that you are running points. Swade is right, that 350 will move the car fine under the power band. Then above 3k it'll really come to life!
