You're also a musician? That's cool. How you have enough time for all the activities you do? I sure enjoy your threads!

  4. @Lloyd's paint & glass ...You should take Andy up on that original Torker! That manifold with a 750 D.P. Holley would be a great combo for a stick car with your engine. Almost exactly the same setup I had in my Nova in the late 70's /early 80's. Even with only a 3.42 gear, that car ran low 13's/high 12's & I drove it every day in the summer. The HEI will fit that manifold!

    God Bless
    Bill

I kinda miss Lloyds "tunnel-ram stickin' outa the hood" era. :(

  15. Lloyd you are a metal magician! I’d rather deal with the worst wiring problem you could imagine than do what you do!!

You call it magic, I call it hacking lmao! Only thing bad that I don't have, is the support just in front of the rear tire. But I'll take care of it. Pulled it in at 5 and quit at 7. So that on the other side and I'll be able to put the floors in. Just realized I didn't get a picture of the new front floor brace.

  17. I have no problem tackling the biggest, worst computer/wiring/emissions issue, but the thought of cutting and welding something like that blows my mind. I wouldn’t even know where to start. My skills end with pop rivets and stop signs.

I've gotta grind out the door, the front edge is 1/2" thick. Plenty of filler in there ;)

  19. Is anyone else wondering how the old swivel buckets stayed attached or even what they were attached to?

I've been going through options on the rear end in this car, mostly dictated by my inability to spend what I consider stupid money on parts to build a rear end, and I came to the conclusion to just say screw it for now. Way too much other stuff that has to be done to be focusing on a rear end, and I can't remember if it was Andy or Steve that I was texting the other day, and I said something will fall in my lap if I just wait. Well today an older man walked in the shop and scared the shit out of me! Didn't hear him come in! He asked me about painting an early 70's mustang, I told him it'll be after the first of the year. He brought up the wagon and told me he loved it. I told him that I have just about every piece to put it together, except for the rear end. He asked if I wanted to run a 9", I told him if I could find one from a car with 4 1/2" bolt pattern and a posi I would run it, he told me he has a 1972 parts car that has a traction lock? rear end, said he has no idea what gear is in it, but it's mine if I want it. I asked how much and he told me to knock something off of a paint job lol... I told him I'd rather just pay for it, and he said he'd swing back by the shop next week. So it looks like I have a 61.25" wide, 9" posi rear end. Perfect

They were just sitting in the car. Those pictures are also after I cut a lot of the floor and patches out

Did you ever get the estimate on media blast? This sure looks like a prime candidate for it. I know it would cost a few more doll hairs, but just wondering how far you're going with this (i.e. frame off?). I would also imagine ALL the rubber including the body mount bushings must be shot to hell as well.

  24. Perfect! Congratulations on the rear axle. I love 9” Fords because they are so easy to work on. Is this your first 9” Ford?

No I'm n not pulling the body, just a hot rod lol... No need in going that far and spending that much money, I'm not that kinda man. He told me $500. And said he'd be there to do it in the next 2 weeks. Wet blasting it with glass.

No I put a 9" in my Nova years ago, and I put a 9" in my Model A pickup. The thought of it makes me queasy, and Alan is gonna make fun of me lmao

  27. As much as I love Chevrolets, you know I’m a closet Ford guy too. I’ve had more old Ford trucks than Chevrolets (I got into Fords because they were cheap and plentiful around here, everyone wanted Chevrolets). Just take a deep breath and repeat after me, it’s just a Ford. :Do_O

Hell I think I'll leave the Ford radio in the dash just because lol. After sitting in the woods for 40 years, if I have to use a Ford rear end to put it back together, so be it.

  29. I mean..... Roth had a big block Ford powered 55 Chevy back in the day lol

Had a guy walk in the shop today trying to sell me a 32 3 window fiberglass body and a 32 frame. I told him I can't afford that stuff, I've gotta buy rusty stuff, he said I'll take $5000. I told him I wasn't interested. He left and I went back to sanding. Few minutes later I was thinking that was stupid, probably could've made some money on that lmao
