Interesting photo of the basketball backboard and net. It may be 10 feet in its original installed height. But, it must be interesting to play on that court. Why? Hello, When we got a basketball hoop for the brothers to go one on one, we had the perfect spot. Just steps outside of our kitchen was a flat concrete pad. It was big enough to draw out a free throw area and then one side had the neighbor's fence. the other side was a nice grassy yard and a covered patio for shade. A basketball backboard + net + 51 olds sedan in the garage But the rim height was moved up/down until the rim measured 10 feet. Once installed on the roof, then we were "at it" until the wee hours of the night. My brother had the advantage until my height was almost even. Then he could not stop me, while i scored at will and it was easier to guard him when he dribbled around. By the time this photo was around, he had no chance to win the one on one games. Perhaps a free throw contest, or a longer arc shooting contest from down the driveway, but no more one on one... ha! Jnaki Note for the Biscayne photo: The back end of the 63 Chevy Biscayne is slightly lower. It may be due to the slope of the driveway leading to the single car garage. So, the 10 foot tall hoop is good next to the garage door, but as the free throw line gets set up, it is going to be an uphill shot. Not level as on 95% of the basketball hoops/nets. (with the advent of portable basketball hoops on wheels and weighted bases, that was the reason to move the net/backstop to the level streets.) In 1963, small houses had some slope to the driveway to keep the rain from coming into the garage door area and therefore sloped downhill to the curb. Now, if one is trying to be on the so-called free throw line, the angle is uphill and the aim will be off slightly. YRMV Even if you are Lebron James, the angle will still be taller than a normal level gym or playground court. Now, if you are the 7 foot 9 inch college basketball player, you might be level with the shooting angle… perhaps, not… Then, again, the small door house would be a hard fit for someone so tall, through all portal doors.
YES! My favorite was turkey club sandwich and a chocolate shake. They mixed real milk (not almond, oat or 2%) to make the shake in a stainless cup, poured some in a tall glass with whipped cream and a cherry on top. Then as a bonus they gave you the rest in the frosty cup they mixed it in.
