Man, you Chevy guys are spoiled! You actually have choices of where to buy floor pans and other metal parts. 48 coupe 0002.jpg 48 coupe 0005.jpg 48 coupe 0015.jpg 48 coupe 0014.jpg
Us poor guys with other brands have to fabricate the missing parts. The only parts we can buy are poorly made pieces from flat 18 gauge some one else fabricated, for 3x the cost of doing it yourself.
    You lucky bums. :D

Yeah I build a lot of cars for my customers that have zero aftermarket support. I make all of the panels. And I always tell them they should've bought a mustang or a Camaro. Make sparks, not excuses. Get to work

Just in case somebody thinks the floor in my 55 is bad, don't forget the floor, or lack of, in my 60 El Camino. I made that floor with 66-67 chevelle floor pans. 20211201_174935.jpg 20220427_181437.jpg

Or you could have had a "rust free" CA car! And the floors were just the beginning. Add in braces, rockers, and front fender patches as well. Luckily repair panels and patches were available from EMS but as usual my body guy needed to massage them to fit.

Made rocker panels from scratch for a 1939 Plymouth sedan back in the 90s when no one was selling Mopar repair sheet metal...Sheet metal brake / shrinker stretcher set .....Pocket mig welder....

Old pictures. That car with its hand fabricated new rockers and floors has around 100,000 miles on it now.
I have discovered over the years that some of those store bought parts don't fit so good either. But when they fit nice, it sure makes the job easier.

Are you going to wait to put the engine in until after the car is sandblasted? I think I would not want the engine anywhere near that process even if it is wet blasting

Yeah, I'm gonna sit it in and tack my mounts, and put the crossmember in, then pull it back out. I'm sitting here scratching my head on the Z bar pivot. The original is on a bracket that bolted to the bellhousing, the transmission in using has a pivot on it, but it's too big to fit the Z bar. But I'll figure it out eventually

1955 pivot ball is small compared to 56 and 57. Now you know. Get a 56 Z bar.

you may have to make a bracket that bolts on with the bell housing bolts to put the ball where it needs to be….

Removing the front clip will be fun with a cut core support.

He took the piece out when he pulled his engine. I have it and it'll get welded back in. Hopefully the 6000rpm drunken launches fucks up all of the gaps

Maybe I’m not getting something? But don’t fender well headers go through the fender wells? Ie install engine, then cut out the holes for them?
