Nice. Looks to me like there're *2* speedster noses there. Top half, & bottom half when turned upside down. :) .

    Thanks, burl. I'll take it.
    The inspiration, that is.

    Dare I say it?
    I'm feeling better.
    Still not 100mph, but better.

    And a little more inspiration.
    Thanks, Ryan.
Tags look good in black and gold this year.
Gotta build a car to put it on.

    Thanks, choptop40.

I forgot to even say why I'm "feeling better". (again)
I got the cardiac ablation. 3 1/2 hour procedure. Could hardly walk for about a week. They didn't really want me to anyway. Kind of a slow bounce back, but it's been about 5 weeks and I'm finally bouncing. Maybe more like a slow dribble.

Dribble? After all this, I'm hoping I can finally make a slam dunk.

    Makes me feel like singing.

    "Basetball jones
    I got a basetball jones
    I got a basetball jones
    Oooh-oooh-oooh
That basketball... it was like a basetball to me..."

Wowzers......you sure went through a challenging situation....Remember that the body heals if you cooperate with it....Sure glad your feeling better....That was a funny song from Cheech and Chong....Humor and singing are the best medicine....

    RAAAAAAARRRRR!!!

I've been so busy since the fire...

    https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/rickybop.1317561/

... I can hardly find time or energy do anything else. But I manage to fit a little something in here and there.

    Got these yesterday.
    From a 1923 Dodge.
A little modifying, a nice finish, some simple upholstery and they'll be perfect.

That's an artist's rendering of the Schneider 11 race car that ran in the 1913 French Grand Prix.

The grille shell is super radical.
But radical looking also, I think, is the way the "hood" doesn't even follow the contour of the cowl.
    I've never seen that.
    I think I like it.
    I might do something similar.

The radiator is in the cowl?
    Even more radical.
But maybe I won't do that.

Is it wrong to like the drawing more then the real thing?

The wood spoked wheels you have are 5 hole, right? I thought “back then” all DB’s were tapered mount.
To be honest I haven’t kept up with your thread, but what front and reared are you using?

I also like the drawing more.
    A lot more.
So, I guess I'll be trying to emulate the drawing instead of the car itself.

    Yes, 5 on 4 1/2 lug pattern.
    18 spokes.
    Most others were spindle mount.
Most others were also 12 spoke.
    These are 20" dia.
1933 was the last year anybody produced wood spoke wheels.
I was told these were made for a 1933 Dodge mail truck.
But I don't know for sure. I haven't found anything that matches. The guy out in Pennsylvania? Vermont? who builds and repairs wooden spoked wheels said he'd never seen 5 lug on a larger wheel.

Not 100% as far as what axles I'll use. Thinking I'll probably use the original front axle. It's so visible and the early axle with positive camber and no brakes is similar to what pre World War I race cars used. And I like it.
The rear axle will also be very visible and I'd hope to at least not look too obviously modern. Maybe avoid covers held on with 10 and 12 bolts. Maybe a Mopar 8 3/4. I think about a quick change mainly cuz it would look cool. And of course I could mess around with gear ratios. Wouldn't have to be an absolutely traditional Halibrand. I might not even want tapered axle housings that look like they belong under a Ford. I might not even mind one of the more modern quick change rear ends. They're not traditional, but they look very mechanical and cool. The aluminum housing would give me the opportunity to do some polishing. And even though I think quick change rear ends weren't standard fare on early century race cars, I guess I wouldn't worry about it and just enjoy the interest it would add to the car. Again, better then a run of the mill unit that we've seen a million times.
    I'm open to other ideas.

You've got a new subscriber. Just quickly went through the whole thread. Wow!, just Wow!

A Quickchange will look good under whatever the final iteration is. I think we might have to do something unique.

Working on it in my spare time :D
