Because the car was such a mess with so many parts missing, I needed all the help I could get. I was friends with the Larivees from promotions inc. and they trusted me with their entire original photo collection of the dream rod. They sent about 50 8x10 pictures, I had copies made and overnighted the originals right back to them IMG_1054.jpeg IMG_1055.jpeg IMG_1058.jpeg IMG_1057.jpeg IMG_1056.jpeg

I don’t know about everyone else but I have this romantic notion that everything from the era was perfect… here’s some proof that it wasn’t… IMG_1060.jpeg IMG_1059.jpeg

  6. Incredible, the car , the stuff , the story . So cool .

    question ?
The state the car was in when you purchased it , chassis cut out of it , parts missing etc.

what was the last owners plans ? Or was this car destined for the scrap bin ?

    Mark,
Again, thanks for the tour of your house and garage. Lois wasn't going to come with me originally, but is sure glad she did!

To other members, Mark is very knowledgeable about all the cars he owns. Most of them do have some history and he knows all of it. His collection of memorabilia for those cars is unbelievable. In fact his collection of memorabilia for all things custom and hot rods is something to see. And then to get a ride in his '61 Impala to the Drive-in for lunch, topped off an excellent morning. Hopefully, Mark does more threads like this one about his other neat cars.

The Wife and I have been traveling in our Motor Home since 31 March and have seen many sights from Virginia to Washington State. I consider the stop at Mark's to be the highlight of the journey so far. Next stop before getting back home...Lloyd Fest 2024.

  11. Mark. I can not thank you enough for this thread, the historical content, and commentary. Some of the history I was aware of, some not. Sharing all this is just terrific. Much respect, Mike.

A historical car...although in my eyes I don't see why it was such a success styling wise.....

the car admittedly looks not very cool in pictures, I always thought that. But when you’re standing next to it , it is a cool son of a bitch

Dear Mark to say that you are one in a million, ignores the fact that in this world,
or any, a million is small, in reality.

What happened was after being shown as a feature car for 2 years the car was "showed out" and rather than get a whole new car, this one was modified into a car called the tiger shark, that car was then a feature car until it too was "showed out" . Bob Larivee then sold it, but being a car that was not street legal and way too small inside for anyone to drive. It got passed around Detroit for years and eventually fell into sad shape and at one time was sold at a garage sale.. The guy that I got it from was going to change it into something of his own. he took it off the Jowett chassis and built a 2x4 rectangle frame with 4 bars and coilovers. he even put a billet steering column and wheel in it (yuk). When he sold it to me he asked what my plans were. I told him I was going to restore it back to the Car Craft dream rod. He replied "you can't do it that is impossible"

Man, I thought everyone knew I had that... and no I never tried to drive it.. One thing my homeowners insurance agent told me was "if you are going to have cars inside your house , we would appreciate it if there has never been gasoline in them and no batteries". They don't want to pay a claim for a house fire caused by a car. So yeah the three cars in the house have never been fired up. I am perfectly fine with that, I have plenty of other cars to drive

Here’s what it looked like after I had removed the tiger shark front fenders and found and repaired the roof side scoops

May I ask you: with the amount of dust, dirt, body filler, and general repair work needed for the repair and restoration of the car, where do you do the work? All of the pictures of your home seem to show exceptional cleanliness.
Also, how many minutes did it take you to get rid of the billet wheel after you got it home?
