Those dirt track coupes/sedans make my heart long for the days of yore but must admit going back in time would be nerve wracking trying to gather them all in from the fate they ultimately were destined for.

 

See that dark image below his knee's? That's not the transmission, that's a (big) bucket holding his.....

 

And the guy in the poster going from one car to the other is John Ashley.

 

Know what you mean. I'm responsible for tearing quite a few of them up past any chance of repair. "It's just a '39 Chevy, don't worry about it, there are plenty more where that one came from".

 

Is this place the old Bonneville or LACR dragstrip?

@Panneton Bros. Racing had it as San Fernando drags back in a 2008 HAMB post. I was given a memorial pin as a gift one year by Jack Gillette (current owner of the Sidewinder) in a series of old historic pins depicting So Cal Dragstrips. It was a surprise and a neat display.

It is too bad those different area dragstrips are no longer viable as the community grows. They were all within driving distances in the vast So Cal area locations. YRMV
