  1. Starting to get some calls and text messages. Couple of people are coming in on Thursday, if that includes you, we'll all go out to eat, if not, we'll see you at the park on Friday. Parts, if you have stuff you wanna swap, sell, etc, bring it! My buddy Matt Hopkins was asking about a schedule, I told him there is none, just have fun. He asked what time we'll shut down Saturday, I told him that if it's like last year, somewhere around 2am :D see you guys and gals soon

  2. Hey Mike,

We have our cabin starting Thursday 4PM check in so that we can relax & have dinner with the gang Thursday night like last year.

2AM??...I am not sure I started singing Tom Waits until after 2 AM! LMAO!!!! Expect to be there all day & all night unless you brought the kids. I will say that Laura will not be able to hang that long this year though.

    God Bless
    Bill

I just corresponded with the cabin owner asking if we could check in on Thursday instead of Friday. If they let us we'll be there Thursday; otherwise we'll come in on Friday. Of course, if we can't stay there Thursday night we could always stay in Lexington or Louisville on Thursday and be there earlier on Friday.

She is still coming though; isn't she? I sure hope she feels up to it.

  5. Yes Laura is coming! Her Daughter, Son In Law & new Grand Baby are coming up from Sevierville, Tn to stay in the cabin with us a couple of days also. Since she tires easily, this allows me the ability to take her back to the cabin when she does & still have someone with her at all times, so I can then com e back to the festivities.

    God Bless

My thoughts are with you and Laura. She sounds like a real trooper (and keeper). If my Ranch Wagon ever gets out of body shop Hell I'm planning on being there next year. Burn some marshmallows, drink a few cold ones, and sing a few tunes for all of us who will be there in spirit only.

We've successfully amended our reservation to include Thursday night so we'll be there that evening. I'm hoping to be at the cabin at or very shortly after 4:00 pm so it y'all don't object Sherry and I would like to get in on any Thursday evening activities.

Bill, that's great that Laura will be coming. Sherry and I are quite familiar with East Tennessee. Our marriage license came from the courthouse in Sevierville and we got married in Townsend. Sherry and I both have relatives in east TN.

See y'all really soon. But first this coming weekend we have a 7-bedroom house rented at the Lake of the Ozarks to celebrate our 20th anniversary with all of our children/grandchildren. We'll get home from that just in time to take a shower, wash a few clothes, and head out to Lloydfest.

I've stuck my nose in here a few times (cuz I'm nosy!) but haven't followed since attendance isn't in the cards.
But I do have a couple thoughts.
    1) How cool is it that @Lloyd's paint & glass dreamed this thing up in the first place? What a guy! Seriously.
    2) You folks that are part of this are living the best part of hot rodding - the people.
Forget about the cars for a sec. Cars bring you together but you take it from there. Lifelong friendships are made. Stories (and blackmail material!:D) are generated. Again, how cool is that? Livin' the dream, folks.

    Enjoy yourselves!
You now have my permission to sit around the campfire and sing "Kumbayah".... ;)

  9. Lloydfest last year was how Lloyd and I met. This year Lloyd took Little Truckdoctor and I with him to Bowling Green. Now I consider Lloyd to be one of my closest friends. We talk almost every day.

  11. I don't think they run the quarter mile anymore as the shutdown area was not long enough.

I don't know if Lloyd and I can be friends. He's from eastern KY, my mother's family is from southeastern KY. I'm going to have to wait for the DNA test results. We might be third cousins, twice removed, or we might be feuding folks;)

  13. I've got the stuff to make the track 32' long, 4' wide. It will have 4' of elevation at the start. Nothing sanctioned lol..

Another words - the family tree is a telephone pole - no branches - everybody is related to everybody.
    Kinfolk.....

(What is the original meaning of kinfolk? Kinfolk refers to one' family By definition, it specifically refers to a person's collective blood relations. Informally, kinfolk can extend to include non-blood relations such as close friends who are regarded as family.)

  16. ....By now, in the evolutionary scheme of things, we're all probably related! Six degrees of seperation thing. I just read that I may have some Neanderthal DNA. Sure explains a lot!

I’ve also been lurking and hoping I can attend at least for a short time. It will be spur of the moment as my in-laws are having health issues.
For those coming east on I-64 from Louisville…..
Construction in/around Simpsonville and I-75/I-64 through Lexington are the biggest areas that might slow you down.
So….Eat, Drink, be Merry and watch out for beer swilling hornets!!

    Marty,

We'll be coming on I-64 from Missouri. We should be passing Louisville mid-day. Don't know about Lexington. Perhaps before rush hour; perhaps not; perhaps later even.
    • I hear that there is still I-64 construction going on in Louisville. Will we be better off staying on I-64 through Louisville or taking I-265 around the city on the north side? Note: last year we witnessed big-time backups on westbound I-64 just after crossing the Ohio River so on the way home we took I-265 westbound and breezed right on through.
    • Is the construction near Simpsonville bad enough to make it worthwhile to take US-60 from Louisville to Shelbyville?
    • You mention Lexington construction. Is there a better way to go through Lexington than just staying on I-64? Maybe taking US-460 around Lexington from Georgetown, coming into Mt. Sterling from the north, and then on to Jeffersonville?

    Atch,
Haven’t been in Louisville lately but, I-265 would be a great way to avoid any Louisville goofups. Totally wasn’t thinking there…DUH

As far as Simpsonville staying on I-64 would be ok. It’s just staying on your toes. Construction is just off the exit plus there’s a big outlet mall there.

Lexington isn’t real bad…just heavy traffic with lane changes and LOTS of trucks! It’s only roughly 5 miles and then I-75 splits off.

    Thanks Marty.

Anyone else know about Louisville traffic?
