Technical Is there anyone still dropping axles?

    I don’t know why a guy would want to keep the axle at full width anyway. Letting it narrow a couple inches is better for tire clearance with the fenders.

    I will no longer deal with the one that got banned from this board, and several other boards.

    Others I work with feel the same way.

    Does the narrowing cause any problems with bringing the tire in closer to the bones/hairpins?

    My sedan will rub a tire a little on the drag link, but not the wishbone. I have an approximate 48” axle and an unsplit wishbone.

    Has anyone had an isuue when the bones are split?

    Hey Speed City.
    I have a '37 Willys Im looking to get a dropped axle done. Did you arrive at any solution/supplier ?
    I see various recommendations in the thread here. I actually want to source another 37 Axle to keep a stock one for selling the car later.

  10. While I can't speak for everybody else's equipment; the "cold" end of the axle is usually constrained lengthwise during the process and it is just a matter of further restricting movement of the axle to allow more stretch.
