The Vintage at the Glen was very lite this year because NASCAR intercoursed it all up, But...
I actually got to see a Real one of 3 Scarab! Guy's these pictures don't do justice, One of the most beautiful car's I've ever seen...
An we were at the bus stop, A friend asked what car is that???
I missed it, Next time around I almost fell over... 1950 Cadillac LeMonster !
I did catch up to them, This car is actually a clone. But Very convincing.
Apparently they are traveling around the country with a small travel trailer, There is no top for this car..
    An when on track was actually racing, Not touring... KIMG7494.JPG KIMG7495.JPG KIMG7497.JPG KIMG7499.JPG KIMG7508.JPG KIMG7501.JPG KIMG7503.JPG KIMG7525.JPG KIMG7524.JPG KIMG7526.JPG KIMG7493.JPG KIMG7491.JPG KIMG7485.JPG KIMG7490.JPG KIMG7486.JPG KIMG7488.JPG KIMG7492.JPG KIMG7487.JPG

@Hollywood-East Damn, I didn't realize that they had moved the race. We always go over (20 miles from us) for the downtown festival which looks like it is still on for Friday September 6th. I'm sure there will be some cars but probably less without the race going on that weekend.

There was a conversion available in the day, timing cover, I believe the injection pump is ran where mag would be..

  10. The scarab is just as perfect as it gets. I wish I could find a reproduction set of those wheels, as the originals are way out of my league.

Understandable. I met and talked with Vic Edelbrock Jr (see my avatar) one year when they had Trans Am cars there. I don't think most people recognized him.

Reasonable facsimilies in aluminum are available from SoCal, ET and Trigo.

Lance Reventlow was responsible for making the Scarabs. Very cool cars. Thanks for the pictures.

  25. Yes it does, its essentially a replica of the Briggs Cunningham race car. Its a very faithful replica.

We ran into Derek & Pat at the Lonestar Roundup (Derekdrinkwater48 on Instagram) on their 1st cross country trip earlier this year.

Derek lives in England. Real troopers. Touring in a car with no top. Although they sleep in the trailer. They blew the engine at Road America. Some folks gave him some space and with a borrowed cherry picker pulled the engine and fixed it on the floor. Had to have some machine work done.

If you want to get some insight on early sports car development in the 50’s there’s a great book “The Last Open Road” by B J Levy. Although fictional it accurately describes the cars and races and tracks woven into a story about a fictional character Buddy Pulumbo and his friends. Anyone who has ever worked in a gas station or worked on cars will enjoy and identify with this book.
