I think a couple of guys on this thread need to check their title numbers against the VIN. They might be disappointed to find they don't have a '40.

'39 and '40s get lumped together like some other years, ie. '49 and '50 Shoe Box Fords. Myself, I prefer the '40 but I would have considered a nice '39 like yours.

I believe you might also find some '39s pictured in the "Birthday" thread for the '40, but I enjoy looking at both years, so it doesn't bother me.

But, this thread title has the word "Your" in it and your '40 wannabe '39 is yours. So many photos in these type threads end up being random photos from the Internet or car shows and not actually owned by the poster of said photo. I am not talking about previously owned cars even if you no longer have that actual car. I love seeing the old photos of the previously owned cars.

Don't get me wrong, I like looking at the pictures, but IMHO, it takes away from what the original thread poster was asking for.

I hope what I am trying to say came out okay. Just my 2 cents. Ron

  15. Our "Golden Anniversary" Coupe was a gift to my wife and I soon after we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary last summer. Originally built by "Turn Shiner" here on the HAMB about 20 years ago, it went to El Cajon, California, where we bought it. Normally my wife is telling me to thin the herd and sell cars, but she fell in love with the coupe as soon as she saw it and said "it's going home with us!". I've been sorting it out, fixing things on it and making it ours.

Loading up the coupe in my trailer in El Cajon after buying it from Michael.

Here Jan is going to work cleaning the wheels and tires while I scrub the underside of the coupe.

It had a huge intake leak where the intake gaskets were pushed out of place, so I replaced them
and matched the ports. Now the little Desoto hemi runs great and will idle at 600 rpm.

I fabricated new exhaust with stainless turbo mufflers with fish tail exhaust tips. I also pulled the fuel tank
to reset the float in the fuel gauge sending unit and fix a leaking fuel tank. I remounted the shocks to gain
more clearance for the exhaust. I also remounted the brake line T to a lower position on the rear end and
bent new rear brake lines for that.

I serviced the 727 Torqueflite with a new filter and fluid and added a deep chrome trans pan. I also
remounted the trans oil cooler inside the frame rail away from the exhaust and made new hard lines to
    replace the old rubber lines.

Latest changes are to install chrome nerf bars on the front and the rear to carry on the "custom" theme. Then I'll try to get the hood to fit better!
