Thanks, Joey. Every little piece brings me one step closer to being on the road. Either way, I'm looking forward to 2025!

Thanks, Brian! Feels good to sit behind the wheel for the first time in a while.

I was thinking about you in my New Mexico travels. I will for sure give you a shout next time!

My brother and I always say, "And I was well pleased," just like Allen.

Wow! That is wild. I'm planning to do a tonneau down the line, but with all the busyness happening on the car, I think I'm going to stick with plain white. But you never know...

Yesterday was filled with a number of odds-n-ends relating to the project. With the sky gray and air warm, I loosely assembled my gas tank out in the driveway. I don't have a fuel gauge as of right now, so the sending unit won't be hooked up.
    IMG_4381.jpg
From there, I set it into the car. After I did, I had to take a step back. "Woah," I said. "This is really coming together." Something about seeing a dash, steering wheel, gauges, and a gas tank made me feel good.
    IMG_4382.jpg
Once everything is 100% in position, I will holesaw a two-inch hole in the tulip panel for the gas cap. I'm still trying to decide between flip-top and screw-on.

Flip top. If for no other reason, because you won't lose the cap.

  8. All the old hot rods I've owned with the filler neck through the tulip panel or quarter have been screw on.

Been awhile since I've checked in on this thread, but damn. That roadster has a perfect profile.
Your detailed work and planning sure shows.

  13. Wow!! It's coming together quickly and looking good!!

My vote would be for a screw on fuel cap.

  14. Screw cap. Flip tops are too racecar for this build, and IMHO, don't fit the vibe.

    This.
I grew up on boats, and I have a core memory from being a kid and my dad teaching me (and then subsequently letting me) unscrew the caps on the twin tanks whenever we needed to fill up. It was important to gently set the cap down, so it didn't slip off the side and swing into the hull.

Thanks everyone for the gas cap input. I agree that screw-on will likely be the route. IMG_4417.jpeg
Meanwhile, I’m out here muffler shopping. We already got the shocks figured out!

Its looking fantastic Joey. One option is buying one Porter muffler and cutting it in half and adding the flange on one side of each half. I think Moriarity gave me the idea-

After a very fun week and a half in the Midwest, I'm back in San Francisco.

While in Michigan, I got to try my brother's CB750 on for size. We're pictured here in front of he and his fiancee's new-to-them 1961 MCM house.

Whoever named these things wasn't lying—the lakes sure are great! I enjoyed swimming in Lake Michigan in two states this trip.

When I walked through the door, I was happy to see so many parts had arrived.

Plus a postcard from my parents on their trip to Eastern Canada. Without wasting too much time, I began unwrapping.

Per everyone's recommendation, I finally bit the bullet on some Craftsman flare nut wrenches. The spoon pedal mount came from @Andy.

One of the most exciting parts was this chrome clutch pedal from @dlw1932. It'll need some further bending, but it's going to add so much to the controls. It's in perfect condition for this build.

    Hey @J.Ukrop
Hey Joey, the next time you are in Seattle, and you just have to have a genuine Chicago style Hot Dog, and other great items as well, then you will have to stop by at "Matt's Famous".
Take my word for it, as a retired Teamster truck driver, this place is great and the quality is high.
So cool that you were in Chicago, that city is well known for a variety of great food choices.
Your roadster is making great progress!
Thanks from Dennis, for sharing the great photos.

Man that thing looks like a blast!

I didn't, although part of me wanted to. No room in the suitcase (or the apartment, for that matter). Great news on the painting!

Yes they do! I had three throughout the course of the weekend in the Windy City.

    Thank you! Little by little!

    Thank ya!

Mmmmm I'll have to check it out. Everything about that spot looks like a winner. Great tip!

Reminds me of the dawg I had at the Tigers vs. SF Giants game earlier this summer. Talk about good stuff!

Thank you! Let me know if you ever come across a matching brake pedal.
