Does anyone know for certain what happened in California between '56-'62 ??? I don't see a lot of commercial '58 plates, so not sure exactly what CA did. I currently have a '46, and CA uses a '45 plate with a '46 metal tag (yellow with black numbers) and there was no front plate during those 2 years due to shortage of steel. I only need a rear plate on mine. I did have to pay quite a bit for it, but I like the plate. I've been looking at '58-'59 trucks, most had double headlights. I learned recently that International Harvester stacked the double headlights vertically, where Chevy/GM did them side-by-side. I see some license plate registration tags, those are like stickers. This is what I was confused over the Year Of Make plates that would go on a '58. Does anyone in CA know how that works for commercial plates? For YOM you need to have a commercial plate if you want to haul anything in your truck, otherwise they can fine you. I don't know if they would, but I don't want to take that chance. The Highway Patrol can make our lives #E!! if they want...
Dug thru some boxes that never got unpacked after moving in 2000. The bolt spacing is almost right for '45 & '46 plates. It isn't close to a '42, so they're likely post WWII.
I'm looking for a 1962 Oklahoma passenger car license plate if anyone has one they are willing to part with. I only need one. Thanks. Larry
It really looks like our man @pigIRON63 is trying to corner the market on Tenn. plates! The man has to have 100 at least. Good stuff.
Lately I have been cleaning out my dad's house. Most of the things I find are familiar to me. But I had never seen these 1953 bike plates.
@chevy57dude Those originally came in cereal boxes, usually Wheaties. They made several different series of them. The first series in ‘53 closely resembled actual plates. The later series had state related sayings on them, more like vanity plates. They are cool. My significant other decided to start collecting them, because they were “cuter than my full size license plates”.
View attachment 6213397 I bought my ‘55 green/white Catalina a while back. I figured I’d run a year of manufacture plate on it, and to my surprise the Wisconsin plates in ‘55 were green/white. I HAD to buy one at that point.

Someone's collection I bought at a online auction earlier this year. Missing 3 states but the number of "sample" plates intrigued me.
‘58 CA commercial plates were still the yellow ‘56 plates with one black letter and 5 numbers. You would then need a ‘58 or ‘59 registration sticker.
