Nice try . Cut your first mounts off and make your new ones now that it's in the right place.
Sorry It's not looking like I will make the party next weekend.

Nah, it'll have nice floors in it now that I'm done with the crossmember. Just took them back out to make things easier.

Yeah I didn't feel good so I quit and came home. I don't know if it's the outlet on my radiator or what, but it's pretty much running into the mount. It's gonna be simple to make the brackets for the side mounts now.

  6. At first glance at this photo it looked to me the outlet was to far inboard also.

I have a 1955 factory-built V-8 Rad so I went and took a measurement from the edge of the Core to center of outlet. Looks to be exactly 4".

Guess I just need to see a stock bottom radiator hose. I'm gonna pull the front mounts after I weld the side mounts anyway.

The stock 55-57 lower hose is one of the shortest , tightest turn hoses there is. works bitchin in early ford sbc swaps too.

    ^^^^^ Exactly. I put the same rad in Carina’s 56. IMG_0721.jpeg
I used factory lower hose and it all fit well.

  10. That is one good looking engine.

Now that I’m more awake. I should have mentioned that I picked up a 57 air cleaner (type shown) (56 unit are too tall for my liking) for Carina’s car and have since painted the radiator tank black. IMG_3018.jpeg

Really hard to get a good picture, it looks like the outlet on your water pump tips down more and mine comes almost straight out

Opinions wanted. This car has 7 leaves in the rear bundles, and I bought a 8.5 10 bolt with a 4.10 posi. If you were me, would you leave the parallel leaf springs, or put the ladder bars and coilovers in it?

  15. I would leave the leaf springs in it. I would probably pull two leaves out to hopefully soften the ride.

    Leave the wagon leafs in.
Back in the day trick was to add another main leaf (cut both bushing ends off) to reduce/stop axel wrap.

post pictures. If I don't go Caltracs on the 9", I'll need something to help it hook up. The parts pile is starting to take on a get it built look. But, always room for more of the right parts. I might be heading to Michigan and since you are on the way if things work out, hopefully I can at least swing by for a bit.

I'd leave the leafs in and maybe add a spring pocket kit to move them under the frame rails.

Your gonna have a big cooler full of ice and adult beverages in the back....best leave the wagon springs in place.

I've not looked close, but they're not the factory springs, he put them under the car 50 years ago.

just my opinion but moving the springs under the frame for tire clearance? tires need to stick out or be right at the wheel lip. straight axle cars with the tires under the fenders (ala pro street style) look dumb, two different eras fighting each other....

The rear end in using is 62.5" wide. Effectively moving my rear tires out a little over an inch on each side. Which is why I wanted a 62" axle. I have no limits coming further out with the radiused wheel openings. 20240801_150820.jpg

all the more reason to not go through the extra work of moving the springs...

I wasn't trying to imply that Lloyd should keep the tires within the body, just suggesting that he could possibly get bigger tires and still have enough poke past the quarter's to make it look right.

I'm pretty sure it was talked about but you are going to bridge the core support , correct?
