  12. Bimbo Jr. wasn't the only water-skiing elephant around, but in the early 1960s she gained some fame as the youngest water-skiing elephant. She was 5 at the time.

    Hello,

The pro photo session with Scotty’s Muffler “T” Roadster was prior to December 1959. By the looks of the area with the tall palm trees in the background, those trees are usually leading into downtown Los Angeles area from the southern portion of the city. The trees are always shown in some aspect of depicting Los Angeles area during the 40s to the current times as the palm trees makes people think of a girl in an open convertible driving down the tree lined street heading for a round of shopping… ha!

My brother and I saw the immaculate roadster up close and personal as it was sitting in the Pits at the huge late season drag race that had the biggest names in all of drag racing in attendance. It was a true first time East vs West competition.

Upon arrival at 8:00 am opening gate, it was a car show and a drag race all in one. The parking lot and pits area was a plethora of the best drag racers we had already read about and were here on the West coast just steps away.

A special thanks to “Mr. Nailhead” for his clear, old photos of Scotty’s Muffler Service Roadster.

    December 1959 photos:

He told me of his time on the "cliff" with thousands of others watching the loud race cars screaming by the spectator's seats.
