IT ALWAYS BLOWS MY MIND WHEN SOMEONE GOES TO THE TROUBLE TO RAISE A ROOF ON THESE OLD MERCURY'S. `THERE IS SOOO FEW THAT ARE DONE THIS WAY, BUT I KINDA LIKE IT !!!
Been looking at this thread for YEARS.....My '49 I picked up from the son and daughter of the late owner who had it since 1953.... That's teenage him with the car back then, how it looked when I got it, and now.
Cool to know the history! Great looking Merc. Wide whites and 4 bars are easy and big improvement! Have FUN!
Slowly getting my 49 road worthy again. The car sat in storage for 30 years with the windows down and was supposed to be crushed last October. But here I am driving it around town getting the kinks out
Awesome to see you saved this great 4 door @MercMan64! It would have been a shame to see it crushed. When I saw the car, the skirts triggered something in the ol' memory banks so I decided to do a little digging. After a little detective work I found what I was looking for. In the Custom Painting by Hot Rod magazine from 1988 on page 23, there was a picture showing these skirts. It was in a write up covering louvers. Unfortunately that's all I found, nothing else on the car they were on. I'm sure these are the same skirts, and I hope this is the same car as well. At any rate, at least part of the car was famous at one time, and unique enough for me to remember the picture all these years later. Cool ride man, good luck with it! E
Something kool Rikster shared with us today. Be kool to find this concept Merc. Yes it would probably have to be chopped Lol!
