Those look like stick welds or wire feed to me. The guy had a torch to do the cutting and could have made better welds with it. I think this is a hoax. no one would allow anyone to take pictures if this was a serious attempt.

 

Man that is really scary sheet . I can see serous bodily harm in there .

 

I'm sorry to say it, but I have seen stuff like that brought into my welding shop to be fixed. This one may be a hoax, but it could also be very real.
