If they are cracks, I wouldn't touch it, it's a matter of working out if they are or not. Looks like a cool axle.
I'm guessing it's not in Sweden?

I agree. What ever it is, it looks like it's laying on the surface. Greg @ Ansen is a great guy and would not just let that axle go out the door if it was cracked like that.

Ford forged axles are unbelievably strong. That does not look like a crack in the material to me.

  7. If you find the axle questionable, don't buy it. There are more axles out there.

I've done quite a few deuce heavy's with Greg and never seen anything like that. Check my HAMB for sale ad for a nearly NOS heavy I had Greg drop. Pricey but unbelievably nice!

Ever seen the Ford promo video where they twist an axle up like a pretzel? I doubt its cracked.

  15. It's a hair and it moved at some point in time between the two pictures being taken. Look at the rust line coming from the top of the axle down past the Anson logo and the large ding in the bottom of the perch boss, they stayed the same while the hair was blowing around into different postitions.

Wasn't it one of the World's Fairs where Ford hung '34 Sedans from the ceiling by their axles to show their strength?

The Ford exhibit featured a number of their suppliers at the 1934 Century of Progress held on Chicago’s lake front. Kelsey Hayes suspended three ‘34 Victoria’s from one of their spoke wheels.

I don't think that axle ever saw the inside of a Ford plant, I beam shape just doesn't look right. Best to pass on it.

I agree. Deuce axles have a very noticeable relief cut around the perch pin areas.

  28. If CSI had a dog hair specialist, that specialist would be coming to me for advice. Rocco is doing fine, he was feeling adventurous earlier this week, decided to check out the basement unsupervised and then realized he underestimated his stair climbing ability. He had that look like he did not know how he ended up down there and was grateful for my on all fours tutorial on how to head back up. He has never lived in a house with stairs.

  29. Sid, who does dropped axles, had one of the Ford twisted axles in his display at Hershey.
