Man, you know alll the tricks,.. I can't even figure out how to text numbers on my flip phone...

 

I have a dupont can that says Dale Jarrett Ford Motor Credit Red from 1998. The cream is off of a 1960 Edsel. The red just makes it look creamier.

Those look like FE rocker covers - BIRD raised letters?).

How did you do that?

Looks like there’s an adapter between the covers and the head.

Did you make the adapter plates?

 

A friend of mine helped me with them. A lot of trial and error, but that's to be expected. We used valve cover gaskets for a pattern. 1/2" thick aluminum is what we had laying around. The top center hole is a little tricky. Had to grind down a allen screw to fit it. Used permatex ultra black between the adapter and the head and a FE valve cover gasket on the top side. Word of CAUTION, do not use the Right Stuff. It's a good way to ruin a set of valve covers.
I see where you can buy adapters for about anything now.

 

Hey I was looking at your set up and I see you have the alternator mounted high and to the drivers side. Is that a mix of a stock upper mount and a custom lower mount, or a stock alt mount system re-positioned or an all custom setup?

I've been looking for a simple stock-like high mount that tucks the alternator in close to the engine. Yours is the best I've seen yet.

 

I used a CJ Pony ALTB4 upper bracket and wanted a beefer lower and made it. For harware CJ Pony ALTM1133 mounting hardware. Made a new lower spacer out of aluminum. The steel one was too long for my application.

 

Those are stock 61 Thunderbird Valve Covers. Already have the raised letters in them. Thank you for the kind words.
