They were a British company, they didn't sell very many. Even though are very cool looking I believe they had similar problems as other British cars did in the 60's and 70's. At some point in time they were bought out by a Russian company. Not sure if that's still true today or if they're still in business.

They went bust a couple of times since they started making cars in the 1950s, have been in limbo for about 10 years now. I’ve had two

  10. Me and my 70 chevelle back in the mid 80's, probably should've kept that one

At the same time I had a 73 Hurst/Olds, a heavily optioned car that got stripped by a shady employee at a transmission shop while I was away deployed to Panama.

    In Panama during that time

After the Chevelle I had picked up a 59 short bed fleetside chevy pickup, no photos but exactly like this one

    59 fleetside 01b.jpg

After that and the Hurst/Olds ordeal I built a sbc 73 Datsun pickup using a Hooker Headers kit that included motor mounts, headers and a fiberglass firewall, man it was hot inside but a fast little truck. My fabrication skills and necessary tools weren't great but at 18, 19 and 20 I learned a lot and had decent rides during those years, then came marriage and a child by 21 lol

  11. I got conned into moving to New York state by the new pregnant wife at the end of 1987, sold the V8 Datsun because it wouldn't be any good in Buffalo snow.
Took a couple yrs to get settled and back into the swing of the new rust belt I was living in, I found decent old cars weren't as easy to find here.
I did find this 58 short stepside chevy

    20200507_222538.jpg

Did a Camaro subframe and rear flip kit

    58002.jpg

    Then pro-streeted it

    58001.jpg

Ended up with a big block and mini blower

My daily driver was a 69 short stepside chevy I brought up from South Carolina, put a V8/auto in it, lowered it and put the newer grill and bumpers on eventually, it didn't like the snow much with it's low suspension and 4.56 gears.

At one point around 91-92 I had the 58, the 69 and my 41 that I still have today.
In this photo you can see the 69 in the garage, the 58 was in the front lawn.

A divorce and loss of the house put a kebash on car stuff for a couple yrs but I managed to pickup a really nice 86 T-Type Buick that got many performance upgrades and also had a rigid shovelhead Harley and of course still had the possessed 41 pickup.

The Buick regrettably got sold and the rigid shovel, but I still have a shovel I built in the stable, this time with shocks though.

I doubt they were all R/Ts but yeah. I realized what they were doing back then when I was just a kid and never could stomach the show because of it.

300 something 68-70 Chargers were destroyed. They were not all RT Chargers, and some were no big loss. Many were bondo buggy's where only parts of them had to look good for the cameras. Several were patched up and reused.
That show was what made the Charger body popular, before it, the other Mopar cars were more sought after. That single show was probably the reason so many 68-70 Chargers were saved, to be honest. In the grand picture of things, a 300 car loss of the same model of car isn't a huge factor on the cars survival.
