Car has been in the garage for two years. Finally, today it was out on the road with fresh engine rebuild. 413 Mopar, 727, 8.8 ford rear. IMG_8253.jpeg IMG_8249.jpeg

  4. @lumpy 63 - that 4-71 small block is cool! @HotRod Holly - welcome, lumpy's a busy guy, you caught that shot at a rare time when he wasn't moving!

Height isn't totally locked in yet, I still need to make a stainless guard to attach to the fender to protect it from the pin.
Now to figure out a shape for that.

Made a deal on the makings of 461 inch Pontiac ... aluminum heads , solid roller etc. Looking to build a Mickey Thompson Type early 60s Racer. Hopefully pics to follow...

  7. Very cool! That’s pretty much exactly what I was building for my 64 GTO almost 30 years ago now.

Just starting on this one. Pulled the front sheet metal and yanked the engine/trans to make way for a blown small block. A few more mechanical upgrades and some lowering, and she will be driving by Spring 21FF293E-1984-425D-B000-2E02751B1E36.jpeg

hadn't played with the plasma table for a while so I ran though the process again as a refresher. 'made this race car silhouette of 18 gauge steel and tacked it to the wall next to a couple earlier pieces.

  10. My friend just sold his 63 Tempest with a built 461, the new owner is putting a damn LS in it.

Is there a "don't like" button?

The Tempest was way cool in those pix. What a shame to replace the 461 with an LS.

I wish I had come across this before the new owner did. I'd have bought it and NEVER would there have been an LS in it.

    Go Mad Nomad......

  15. Maybe the guy ruining the Tempest with an LS is at least making a real car guy a deal on the 461? I just had a guy yesterday ask me if I had an LS in my Chevelle. I told him that wasn't going to happen while I own the car and that the car wasn't for sale.

I will likely do a build thread. I typically write and post pretty in depth on my website too. You can read the story of how I was able to get my hands on that car after several agonizing years of trying here: No-Dice Nomad - Barn Find - 1956 Chevy Nomad – ironandsteele

Went on the hunt for a cheapy Impala 12 bolt to narrow ... Ended up with a nice 2nd gen Camaro rear end thats worth too much to cut up ...Back to the drawing board.

  20. So you went silver mining and struck gold? A long-time friend of mine corrected me once, saying I was fortunate, not lucky. Great for you.

While replacing header gaskets on Clarence I saw that #8 cylinder is running WAY lean. Runner in the head is pure white. Too busy tomorrow but Friday I've got to figure that out.

Pulled these Headers off as they were too close to the fender. Got another pair from S&S&S. Now that go's Back a Long While. Painting both sets VHT White again. Seems that the VHT white is labeled Primer, and there doesn't seem to be much pigment in it? Anybody else notice this? PICT8010.JPG

They do white paint and white primer (and grey primer), you’ve picked up the wrong can.

34454.jpeg This is more like it, I can cut this up with no regrets:D

  26. Came up with this after a few different designs, but I did cut this one out of stainless so I can stare at it awhile before cutting, sanding, filing and drilling a matching one out of this hard ass material.

Thanx for your Post about the White header heat resistant paint! Couldn't find any! At local auto parts and speedshop! Browsed online @ Summit. None there either. Wonder if it's a N.Y. Thing?

I love the Chevy 10 and 12 bolt rearends, the fact that the GM engineers made that cover design into a gear oil pump is just so cool! 425E2EB4-B147-467D-A090-FA0A74267735.jpeg
Nothing looks better under an old school hotrod than a chrome 12 bolt cover!
