As a non-painter, I never would have guessed that the gun itself could make that much difference to the color.

 

Are we surprised at all that you are as focused on the details with the paint as you are with motor mounts? Amazing again Cody!!! Killer is the word....and not just Ardun Killer!

When back to again read painting detail. No one has mentioned “spider webbing” on some panels. That what we used to call it anyway. Love silver & red webbing. Looking. Forward to see all the panels assembled. Great job

Ok, this is coming from someone who has no painting experience except from a rattle can. On the surfaces, what are the white stringy looking things? I am thinking maybe compound but I really don't have any clue. Awesome work as usual!

 

His gun splattered out stringy paint. Maybe he’ll do better next time.

Wow, make me feel old. I called it spider webbing paint job & Cody agreed. Used to be a style of painting panels in a car. Am I that old? Or crazy

 

NICE! Looks like you never understood that line that always bugged me. "Good enough, nobody is ever going to see it...................."

 

In the olden days a painter used to use too thick of lacquer sprayed through a big tipped gun, with probably too low of pressure. Some even developed special rotating tips that splattered in a round pattern. Kinda like mistakes on purpose.

Hopefully he’ll tell us how to do it nowadays with modern paints.

 

The guns with rotating tips were veiling guns. Not developed by painters but taken from the furniture industry also not the same as cobwebbing. This is veiling.


I have heard that using webbing solution from the marine industry with colour added to it works but have never tried it myself. It is usually added to gel coat.

Afraid I was out of date: did some google searching. Found a 2011 post on some crazy site called “HAMB”. Do a search for “old school spider webbing”. I always liked it, & I am not crazy, maybe just a little.

 

Let’s bring back some old paint styles! Always have loved low rider paint jobs, fantastic!
