That's great. Very pretty car, and your wife seems very cool to do this.

Well, she decided to pull the trigger and drive it home. She’s about 400 miles in, and all is well.
Fingers crossed she stays safe and problem free.

With 400 miles in, she is not in the mountains anymore. Nebraska is not as remote as the the western slope would be, where in Colorado did you find that great looking car?

    Longmont.
Just purely by coincidence, my ‘63 LeMans was also bought in Longmont. My wife drove that one home a few years back after visiting her same friend. IMG_7141.jpeg

Now if I could find a ‘49 Chieftain in Longmont, I’d pull a hat trick.

We did a similar trip back in the 80s. Picked up a 36 Pontiac from the western slope. Luckily the seller met us in Denver because we didn’t have trailer brakes (young and dumb). You now have two great looking Pontiac’s and what can I say about your wife wow.

IMG_4898.jpeg IMG_4895.jpeg I’m at work. Last time she checked in was in Iowa and still no issues.
One small thing that happened was while still in Colorado, the car threw a hubcap. She went back and got it and put it in the trunk. No biggie, but she said it did scratch the door when it came off.
You can see it in the picture. No that’s not the Pontiac leaking, she just parked in the worst spot in the lot. :)
She picked up some tools and fluids before she pulled out yesterday.

IMG_2591.jpeg She pulled in about half hour ago.
All good! Only went through 1quart of oil, no transmission fluid or coolant needed. She put between 11-1200 miles since Saturday.
    My wife rocks!

One of the reasons I sold my OT Pontiac is it had a 4 speed, which my wife COULD drive, but with her arthritis and fibromyalgia it’s painful, so I told her the next car would be an automatic. My wife, 16 year old, and I like to go on runs together, and it’s a lot more fun when we each have our own car to drive. I also wanted a dependable auto transmission car, so that she could just hop in and drive when she gets the itch even when I’m not around.
My son and I went out and put 40 miles on it after she got home. :)
It needs a good wash and rest now.

Sharing this hobby with the family is what it's all about.

Your wife sounds like my wife. Perfectly capable of driving a manual but prefers an automatic. She'll sometimes grab my 56 Olds Holiday 98 to take to shows if I'm driving my 61. I offer the 61 because it has power disc brakes and generally drives better than the 56, but she always declines because she "doesn't want to be responsible for it" haha
