I bent my headlight stands with a Propane Torch like you're doing and it did take forever, but it got done.

Man alive...I had about 7 pages to catch up on! Really stoked for you Joey! I like you have dreamed of building a model a roadster on 32 rails since I was about 10 yrs old. I am collecting the pieces to bring that dream to life as well!

Careful now, those neighborhood kids are young and impressionable.

We've all started out like this, one time or another. Then comes the (I can't quit looking at it), stage.....

  7. Joey....I have 3 torch set ups. I do not need 3 torch set ups. I have a set with very small bottles that would be perfect for a San Francisco size garage. I'll load them in the truck for my next drive south of you want them.

I wish I had known he was in need of an OA setup. I just gave away my small bottle version about 6 months ago on CL.

Joey, this image needs to be in a magazine or on a calendar!( imho) Great progress by the way. I always enjoy checking on your build progress. Your youthful enthusiasm for this project and this hobby is always a breath of fresh air and an inspiration to this old geezer.

    Got danggit, Bobby!!

Thank you! They’re now living a great life on a ‘banger-powered, cut-down Sport Coupe in Sacramento.

Thanks for sticking with the build—and it makes me happy that you’re sticking to yours. There’s something about an A-V8 that’s hard to beat. Can’t wait to see yours on the road!

That’s true! Maybe they too will one day become hot rodders.

Hahah amen to that! I’m definitely in that stage right now. It’s also the “sit-behind-the-wheel-and-pretend-like-you’re-driving-for-10-minutes-before -bed-each-night-phase).

That would be amazing. I’ll buy lunch!

    No worries—I appreciate it!

Thank you so much. This build has been a labor of love and a learning experience. I’m grateful that I can document in on here. I can’t say too much, but there may or may not be a feature on this car in print on the horizon. We have a long way to go between now and then!

I’m on the 5 bus barreling towards work and I’m thinking about my throttle pedal. I’ve seen folks set them up using two of these mounts, and that’s the route I’d like to go. I’ve searched around for a place to buy just this mount, but haven’t had any luck. I’ll ask here: does anyone have a junk spoon pedal they’d be willing to sell? I just need it for parts. Any leads would be greatly appreciated!

Have you tried looking for an eye bolt the correct size?

That’s really all they are. If you want you could just buy a 46-8 section and then weld the spoon pad to the arm. That’s what I’m doing in the model A.

that being said I’d think @Hitchhiker has some

Check with FK Rod ends, they have rod ends that are not spherical, that are very similar to what you are looking for.

    Hey @J.Ukrop

I bet your motorcycle buddies have a few old motorcycle gear shift levers with the waffle pattern for grip, so your foot doesn't slip off of the traditional smooth spoon.

Just a thought, it will be interesting to see what you finally rig up!
    Your results may vary!

Thank you everyone for the insight and replies. I have a good idea of how I will tackle the throttle setup. That, however, is a project for another day. IMG_4947.jpg
Tonight was one of those nights that I finally had a breakthrough. I've spent the past two sessions messing with the steering box, trying to get everything aligned. Now, the components are squared away and tightened down, and I'm happy with the steering wheel placement, column angle, steering box angle, and the overall feel of it.

I still need to build the box, but I couldn't help but jack up the front and turn the wheel. Big news—it steers! This weekend, I'll be trimming the aluminum plate, building the steering box, and cleaning up the column. Feels so good to be moving forward!

I don't see Cotter Pins on those Castle Nuts.
Is there a hole on the end of both of those shafts to slip a Cotter Pin into ?
If there is - get some Cotter Pins on them...today !

Yes there are, but no cotter pins for now. The whole car is coming apart so I can finish weld the pedal area and then paint the frame. Then it’s cotter pin time.

How did you get to be a moderator if you don't understand the timeline of either the thread or the build. This is really insulting to both Joey and to those who have been following this thread since the beginning.

I've read the 138 pages Warren over time.
    Natural quick reaction to safety.
@J.Ukrop insulted - naaa - he knows I send notes from time to time.....
If you are insulted ..... ok..we all keep an eye on the kid in our own way.

@corncobcoupe , we all try to keep an eye out for each other.
It is stopping in the middle of the job, tight but not finished with all hardware.
It's also a quick QA, cotter means final torqued.
Joey explained without rancor that he's going to take it apart one more time, so no harm, no foul.

Tonight was a perfect night out in the driveway/in the garage. Warm weather. Neighbors. Power tools. Hammers. Lying on the ground.

When you have some spare time it would be fun to know who is using to version 1-1.5 parts so we can shout encouragement to their builds and recognize the flow cool old stuff. It is interesting how parts are gathered, used, dispersed, gathered again,............. You have a unique position to put some of it down.
