A look back over the years

The first full mock up on the frame, this was November 2018 I believe.

After we started stripping the filler off the quarters. Probably fall 2019.

  8. I realize its destined for paint, but I find it fitting that its in bare metal, much like your legendary roadster pickup. Once again, you've knocked it out of the park!

I made it out to RPM Nationals with the car on Friday and Saturday. We paired the car up with my good friend Jeremy Hartley's uncut 5w for a "The new and the old" photo comparison.

Then swapped out the rolling stock in preparation for the trip to Oklahoma. "The Old Chrome Coupe" is all dolled up for the Roc...

Outstanding. I assume your trailering, I would. Hope to see you there if they let me on the grounds with my deuce truck. Not entered, just a spectator.

Neal, have you ever done a shop tour for all your fans here on the HAMB? From what I’ve seen in the background of your pictures I think it’s as good or maybe even better than the workmanship you’ve documented here on your 32! I’m willing to bet I’m not the only one who would love to see more of your shop, here or maybe on Ryan’s other site GarageJournal! Car looks great, good luck and have a great time at the ROC!

  15. Also, I forgot to say earlier, that lifting sling is great!

What are you wiping it down with? Gibbs?

Neal: I have used countless cans of Gibbs over the years on all the bare metal deuce roadster rollers I've built with no negative feedback. How is Crown All 4 a better product for bare metal bodies and frames? Currently working on a bare metal deuce roadster I intend to sell bare. Always looking for a better solution to the problem of keeping them shiny in bare metal

It looks great Neal, and I think I like the whitewalls a lot better! Did you plan on the car being that low in the back or has it settled a little more? Would be cool to see it next to Sam’s red coupe.

I've used Gibbs and then found this locally for $6 a can. I don't know if it works better than Gibbs, but it works good and I like the price and it's readily available to me. And, yes, I am trailering to the Roc.

It has settled and I will likely add another leaf

Down to 1/2 a can of Gibbs, ordered 1/2 dozen 16 oz cans of All 4 for $6.95 a can plus the ride. Lots cheaper than Gibbs. I'll add my opinion later after I treat the latest bare metal roadster.

    There are some pics here:

But I will try to get some more pics after I get my shop back in order from the thrash on the 5w. Give me a month or two.

The big plus for Gibbs is the “paint friendly”aspect. Does anyone know how the Crown All 4 compares?
Oh, and the 5W is fantastic!

Painting over Crown All 4 shouldn't be a problem as it's silicon free. It will need a dam good wash down or maybe 2 with a good quality wax & grease remover just like we do with Gibbs.

Yeah, I've painted over the Crown, and just like Gibbs a good wash down with wax and grease remover does the trick.

I keep working around the car, tidying up small stuff. I put the chrome header panel in last night, along with a pair of Joe Kugel's sun visors and a shoebox Ford rear view mirror.

It'll be easy to find, there will always be a crowd gathered around it. Probably be tough to get some pictures?

Very nice build. Love the attention to detail. I wish that I had the patience to do the same.
