  10. Thanks for the interesting story about Troy, the model he is holding is a McCoy gas powered "Hot Rod" tether car.
    I'm guessing about 1947-48.

Seeing the magic L79 on the end option make my heart skip a beat. In 1965 I went to Hessel Chevrolet in El Segundo and talked to the fleet sales about ordering one. (I went to HS with Vic Hessel the owners son) I had just gotten a full time job at Standard Oil of California in the Baldwin Hills oil field. I was too late in the year and had seen photos of the 66 and didn’t want one of those…Still the perfect car I wanted to own.

You are correct Jimmy, Vegas used to be quite the place until it was turned into Disneyland under martial law.

My parents lived in Vegas when I came home for Christmas leave with orders to Viet Nam.
    I was 19.
I would put on my uniform and go to the strip every night. No one ever said a word. I would even sit at the bar. I used to catch the Don Rickles lounge act at The Sahara almost every night.
One night really late I was in the Sahara coffee shop at the counter. Behind me was Frank Sinatra, Buddy Hackett, Joey Bishop and someone else, I think Peter Lawford, I don't remember.
The waitress came to me and said a person wishing to remain anonymous would like to buy you anything you want...Club sandwich and a shake. Thank you.

Back before Chevrolet offered anything big..a typical swap was to a Cadillac. That Cadillac going in that 56 might be a 354 or 364 fresh out of a wrecking yard. The 265 probably went to some hot rodder for his 20-30’s or even 40’s car.

There was a 365 HP 327 cu.in in mid '60's, maybe he meant Horse Power.

There were some good choices back then:
    354 Chrysler
    364 Buick
    371 Olds
    365 Caddy
My friend put a '58 Buick 364" motor and 3 speed in a '57 Chevy 2dr sedan....it was a blast tearing up the streets after work every night in 1966.
