I spent 2 months in Hemet @ 1968 and met a cute girl working at an ice cream stand. I also remember going to a bar drinking 25 cent pitchers of beer and dancing with some Mexican girls who asked us. When one of their husbands started giving me "that" look I decided to cool it.
Thank you for that. I thought of you when I made my request. Your sources are amazing. Making you a great source of information. Thank you for that. I don't know if you read any of that history about Caterpillar but the roots are still in Stockton, California the birthplace of the Caterpillar tractor and Holt Bros. manufacturing. You'll Find Holt Bros. Caterpillar sales still doing business there. Some rodders might be familiar with Stockton Wheel, an offshoot from Holt Bros. manufacturing. I once worked for an old farmer outside of Stockton. He had several pre-war Caterpillar tractors I had the pleasure of operating and maintaining. Those old tractors had crank to start, 2 cylinder gasoline starter motors. Some of the work we did was grading farm land using machinery much like seen in that photo. We called it a cat and a can. A Caterpillar tractor with a scraper. There are islands rich of Peat in the San Joaquin river delta. The original Holt Bros. Caterpillar tractor was designed with tracks for farming those islands. The islands are so rich with peat, farmers reported flames shooting out of the ground when they plowed. They've had to flood islands to put out the Peat fires. Another story all together.
I'm sure like many of us I have one of those oil can spouts. What I don't have are oil cans to show My grandson how they were used.
In case some loser pinheads get' their diapers in a bunch there's nothing, never was, anything racist about Sambo's Restaurants.
See that Chevy grille? Plant a great big ugly chrome "V" ON it and I'm pretty sure you have that aborted Canadian bubble top thing posted earlier.
Soap Box cars; Later all had to use the same wheels/axle. A machinist in Oregon would 'run in' his kids wheel bearings with fine rouge power- those kids won several yrs in a row. Rules later got changed to 'supplied wheels' Newc
