Thank you for sharing! I see Dawson Hadley's rail, the Joehnk '36 coupe! Love the '36 Phaeton going off against the Chev. The Jag's and Allard ....

  6. @Jimmy B -

    Thanks mate!

Been enjoying them on your IG & FB feed . . . was hoping you’d take the time to share these images (and when possible, add the captions) on the H.A.M.B. . . . very much appreciated!

One question though . . . how come when I use the phrase “placeholder” in any of my posts, I get a dozen wise-ass comments about “Can’t see your pics” ? . . . I guess {in my best Rodney Dangerfield voice} “I DON’T GET NO RESPECT AROUND HERE!:D

  7. No worries mate! & thank you! I will slowly add captions here. I deactivated FB about 10 minutes ago and IG is close behind, just tired of that crap, need a breather. Roadster weather is upon us... need to enjoy the roadster a little more

Haha! :D:D:D I needed a good laugh with a Rodney Dangerfield reference

It keeps getting better ! I recently picked up a copy of the 2006 Street Machine Club publication titled "Hot Rod History" if you haven't seen it, I can guarantee you will thoroughly enjoy each & ever page, loaded with photo's from the post war dry lakes era that captures that special moment in hot rod history with memories from the greats & the common back yard builder as well. Very well documented with the competent hands of Robert Genat & Don Cox, loaded with 'T's, 'As' & dozens of 32's with a few 33's 34's & belly tankers as well, a must see for those that long to live hot rod history in the making.

  12. This is at the Pomona fairgrounds. The same exact place the NHRA runs the Winternationals and the season finale. Pomona Police Chief Parker convinced the city to start holding weekly drag meets there to help stop street racing. The strip is known as "Parker Ave.".
Love these old photos. Please post more!

This is awesome! Thanks for sharing! I grew up 5 miles from there. In grade school, my buddy and I would ride our bikes to the winter nationals and try to watch the races through the fence. Oftentimes they’d let us sneak into the pits. Love that place.

Most sources call Acmo's sedan a Graham, but these pics show that its a Hupmobile!

I was able to get a bunch of the PVTA stuff last week too, including the letters between the PVTA and the Pomona Police. I’ll share them all in detail Monday. Here’s a bit of it for now… IMG_7882.jpeg IMG_7883.jpeg IMG_7884.jpeg IMG_7885.jpeg IMG_7887.jpeg IMG_7891.jpeg

  16. Happy you were able to buy those, seems you outbid me on a number of these auctions, hope you were able to buy the lots of negatives, they (to me) were the treasure of this collection beside these correspondence letters, F'kin spewing I missed them. Awesome you are willing to contribute to this thread with what you have purchased, thank you!

Sadly I did not get the negatives either. I wasn’t sure how usable they would be.
I did get 1-200 pictures of Bonneville and Pomona and posted a bunch of them here on another thread.
I’ve been on vacation but saw that the letters have been delivered. Really looking forward to seeing them in detail

  18. Bummer! They are would have been very usable but with these larger format negatives you need a larger scanner, I have a Epson v850 pro, not cheap, us$700-$800.

  19. I saved these from an ebay auction a number of years back, I missed out on program. I would like to purchase a copy or if someone has a copy they are willing to scan and post the full program even better, more history the better

  20. Really great stuff @Jimmy B. The clarity of the images is wonderful, obviously shot with quality equipment, any idea who the photographer is ? Love the sports cars mixing it up with the hot rod guys. And the crowd size is impressive.
    Thank you for sharing.

This looks like it could be the very active and gorgous Mc aFee spl with that great pistriped flag man on the cowl?

  29. Lots to take in here. One can only wonder what the backstory of the chopsticks special is, and the paint scheme on the seaside service push truck caught my eye. Thanks again. C16FD867-00DA-4493-8C98-A6CE4752078A.jpeg

Jimmy B, I thought it was strange that all of this auction stuff wasn't willed to the NHRA Museum in Pomona. I messaged them through email and Facebook to see if they wanted any of it because I felt like it belonged there. They read it but didn't reply.
