I'm trying to sort it out with the NYS DMV. They are sending me a "packet" but it sounds like its a process that my father my have already done to get the transferable registration that also serves as its title in NYS. (?)
It's been in the family for a very long time (60s-70s) in various states of assembly.

Snap us a clear closeup pic of the top of the left frame rail right in front of the firewall. Post it here in full size. Read the instructions for pic posting at the buttons on the top of the page.

The original serial number will begin and end with a star stamped on the frame.

Does the title say the VIN starts with an 18 or a B?

If it is the car in your avatar then list it for sale in the classifieds here. the people on this forum are the ones that are interested in just this kind of car....

Become a car guy and drive it. Once the money is spent after you sell it, you'll regret it. Hard to believe that something that meant so much to your Dad is so easily discarded.

I don’t think there is a paper trail to match numbers

if your Pops computer is still around you can probably click on the HAMB and his user profile will pop up.

you may want to post a bunch of good photos here and get a HAMB appraisal so you will know what to expect.

Seriously though and all kidding aside….learn how to post pictures here and I guarantee you will get a very robust discussion on value that should get you a very good idea of value. You’ ll probably get some very reasonable offers as well.

NY is really easy. I've used these on probably 10 hot rods I've built. Order one of these and mount it on drivers side A pillar (sideways)...not on the firewall.

I've sold 2 hot rods through these guys in Morgantown PA.. They are great guys and easy to work with. They take 10% but do all the work and will advertise it all over the place. It will probably cost you a couple hundred dollars to get the car to them, but they will arrange a shipper.

Yeah, you seem to know a lot of technical details about it. The car market is fickle.

This sounds very like an ad that a car salesman (or perhaps any salesman) would write, or is it AI stuff?

This is the second dumb VIN related problem originating out of NY this week.

There is a number on your registration. It's not going to be a modern standardized VIN but it will be unique.

One of the locations @alchemy listed should have a number that matches whats on your paperwork. You need to find and photograph that for the auction house.

Some people don't want sentimental things around because they become a burden.

For something that's already in nice condition the best step for it's preservation may well be selling it to someone who will keep it that way.

Or he found an equivalent-ish vehicle for sale and copied most of the ad.

    The description sounds AI generated.

  22. No help with selling the car but if you want to search the HAMB for your fathers username, you can hover over the group of people icon above the HAMB alliance banner at the top of this website and then click on member search. If he put in his location, you should be able to search by Buffalo, NY to see a list of usernames. You can also search by usernames - I'd try using the first part of any email address he may have used (don't include the @xxxxxx.com part in the search) and see if that returns anything. Good luck with the sale and search.

  23. I don't see that there's any real difference . . .

"At the heart of this vintage beauty sits a Flathead engine that ensures an exhilarating driving experience, making every outing an adventure. The flathead was painstakingly rebuilt with a three deuce setup, Offenhauser heads, Edelbrock aluminum valve covers"
Curious how he got Edelbrock valve covers over Offy heads.

Easiest way to sell it is to post plenty of photos on HAMB, have folks come look at it and accept a fair offer.
