Is " lisp" still socially correct ? I'd have guessed they'd have renamed it by now .

In NY state for pre 1973 cars the transferable registration is the same as the title, the vin on the registration is in the system as the vehicle (1932 ford) stated on the registration.
Post 73 they went to a title and non-transferable registration, you have to register your vehicle every two years to keep the license plates and you must have insurance on the vehicle to keep the plates.

 

I don't know whether or not it's socially correct, but the term does seem to have fallen out of common usage. Online searches for "lisp" seem to mainly turn up results for some type of computer programming language. Who knew?

 

Was your dad's Deuce ever featured in any magazines, if so that would add to the value when selling. HRP

 

Isn't it a 32?

 

Without a vin of some kind fastened to the car, that matches the paper title, there is nothing connecting the paper title to that car. Who knows what car that paper title goes to, if there is no matching number on the car?

He was Buffalo, NY. I know he has a trophy from the Olcott Car Show in New York.

I posted car photos in the original post.

He built the car in his garage. He had some help from a few other Hot Rod enthusiasts; I think he survived them all.
I have a small box of car part receipts, it is registered with a NYS Transferable Registration/Title since around 2001 (?). The steel body has been in the family since the 1970s I think? It has a flathead engine. It sounds great. We brought it out for a drive a few days ago. I also just learned that it has undercarriage lighting.

Great that you've added pics but adding them to you'd first post means they'll get missed by anyone who's looked at this thread previously and misses your mention of pics. I suggest you post them at this point in the thread. Car looks great BTW.

The lighting underneath is goofy and detracts massively from the car in every respect. They appear to be only zipped on thankfully. I can only assume you'd dad fitted them as a bad taste joke to piss his buddies off, as its otherwise at odds with his otherwise good taste and eye for detail.

with a ny regerstation all you do is fill in the name of the buyer on the back of the transferable registration & sign it keep it simple. on the reg is a seriel number stamp that number on the frame rail near the steeringbox dont get the state involed if you ask 5 clerks you will get 5 different answers. if it on a repro chassis there is no number there

 

I noticed on the pic of the right front brake line that it seems the clip inside the frame rail has come loose. Make sure to replace it before you drive it.

My father loved this forum. His H.A.M.B. name was: bob da bear (2010?)

My father's gone now. He left behind his beloved 1932 Roadster. Many of its parts and pieces have been in the family for as long as I can remember. My father didn't leave much information but we have photos. Most of his car friends who helped him are gone too now.

This what I know:
It's a Ford steel body surrounded by lots of chrome. It includes a channeled frame, split wishbone front-end suspension, and radius chrome steering rods with vintage bias ply tires. It features a louvered trunk lid, stainless steel floor and battery box located in the trunk.
At the heart of this vintage beauty sits a Flathead powerhouse. The Flathead has a three deuce setup, Offenhauser heads. There’s also stainless steel straight pipes, coupled with a 3 speed transmission.
This 32 Roadster has room for two passengers with a canvas convertible top providing an extra layer of protection for you and your sweetheart. The cabin has red leather upholstery wrapped around the cabin and bench seat.

He registered it HISTORICAL and it has a NYS Transferrable Registration/Title (NY) as far back as 2001(?) (My father said I just needed the NYS Transferable Registration/Title in order to sell it.)

It's really beautiful and runs great. It is part of the Estate so it must be sold.

and a Traditional Custom?

-Can you tell me anything about this car and/or its parts, so that I can list it for sale?

-Which questions (besides price) will a buyer ask about the car?

-What do I need to know about selling a car like this?
