    I like this already. I was afraid there for a second you were going the GM 3.8 transverse transaxle thing, which would have lead to an early death here. ;)

    If you going to race it you'll need a roll cage plus a lot of other things. You will be in /RMR depending on your displacement.

    He stated the goal is AMBR, not racing.

    Space is gonna be tight putting that engine in front of the rearend and having sufficient room for the driver in the passenger compartment.

  15. Awesome build concept, I will be following along with interest. Will you have rear suspension or solid mounted? You will likely be familiar with Don Waite and Ray Brown roadsters they had a cradle setup

    Blah, blah... splitting hairs. Yes you are correct it is not a true "rear" engined roadster but under definitions & rules that these cars were built to in the 40s and 50s the definition is correct ie engine behind/rearward of driver. I will say and call this is a "Rear Modified Roadster". Often referred to rear engine roadster

    Cool! So, hard tail, or powertrain on a swing-arm? I'm guessing if it's strictly show, no need for suspension or pistons or unneeded stuff like that?

    If you could find a corvair transaxle & a Crown V8 conversion kit , that would really simplify things in the driveline dept .

    It seems that would also imply that to qualify as a front engine that some or all of the engine be in front of the front axle centerline.

  23. That is the rear setup is from Don Waite's, Ray used a V8-60. What chassis will you be using? '32, Chev or tubular? Really looking forward to watching this come together

    Some Bonneville stuff runs without suspension.
    Works well on the real fast cars.
    Not ideal on slower stuff, but they do it.

    Sure others misuse it, but that does not make it correct.

    Wrong does not equal right, just because ignorance is popular.

    Now you're getting it.

    If the engine is in-between the axle centerlines, it is a mid-engine.

    That's the definition. Words and phrases have defined meanings. That is what makes communication possible.
