Paso Robles 2007? Info?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Cherry Dollface, Oct 18, 2006.

  1. Usually Jonah and I are tapped out after Viva, but we really want to make it to Paso this year. So we are planning on doing both. But that means we have to start planning now! So anyhow, does anyone have any info yet? What weekend is it? Are there any hotels in the area? Any info would really be appreciated...

Lets hope there is a 2007. Rumours been going around for years now its gonna end (founder of the show passed away a few years ago). I doubt it though..... Paso couldnt let it happen with all they money they make...

Paso has two large shows. THE big show is always Memorial Day weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun). The other is Labor Day. The Memorial Day show is absolutely the coolest EVER. The Paso Robles Inn is the best place to stay if you want to be in the mix the whole weekend. Its directly in front of the park where the car show is held. They sell out fast and I heard you cant reserve a room until the the first of the year, but that could be innacurate. There are other seedy hotels down the street, and they are just that- seedy.

Friday is registration day and in the night is the huge cruise in front of the A&W. Sat. is the big car show and the line up for entry is before sunrise (if you want to be parked on the grass in the shade). Sat night is the concert at the bowling alley. Sunday is the last day of the show and awards are handed out. Most people take off this day. Ive never stayed till monday, but i heard it clears out fast.

    Have Fun.

you will probably havce a hard time finding a hotel now. They are usually booked up for the next year buy the time everyone leaves town. The labor day show is done, there is only the memorial day show now.

As of about 3-4 months ago me and the rest of the Boulevardos got room at the Holiday Inn Express. We snatched them all up. That was 3-4 months ago. They go real fast.

  8. WRONG! I'm good friends with Penney and Rich Pichette, both of whom are alive and (mostly) well. There will be a 2007 Memorial Day Paso show, and a 2008, 2009, 2010 you get the picture. Good luck finding a room.

    skip,
these rumors start earlier and earlier every year huh .... sheeesh .....

back to the question.....i would say if you are the type that chose viva over paso . maybe you should just stick with viva and the rest of the scensters . leave paso to car people . there is enough of the rockasilly greasers and parasol carrying orca betties as it is already .... less and less each year but still too many

Dollface, Try here... Hampton Inn and suites..805-226-9988 about 3 minutes from the park...That's where we are staying. I have a couple rooms.. if anybody cancels I will let you know...My wife and I are saying in Paso but we only live 40 minutes away.. If worse comes to worse...you could use my house as long as ya feed our two small dogs.....It is in Los Osos two blocks from the beach.... EVILT feel free to PM any questions you have..There are a lot of Paso locals on here.... Try hotels in Atascadero(10 miles away), san luis obispo(18miles), san miguel(8 miles), cambria(30 miles), Morro Bay(30 miles)....Arroyo Grande(40 miles).. the mileage is just aprox........

  11. The Best Western in Atascadero has some rooms. Does anyone know what that town or motel is like??

Wow! I guess you don't know Cherrydollface or her husband Jonah. Their shop is the one that built the Phantom Bantom, and the Red and white metalflaked/ chopped 53 F100. I think they are as much car people, as anyone on here. And they build finished cars. Not the flat black half as built stuff thet the "scenesters" build.

  14. Atascadero is nothing special, but not bad either. Probably cheaper than S.L.O. or Cambria...I'm not sure about the Best Western there, but I've stayed at about 40 others and they're nice enough for us hot rodders :D. They usually have a free continetal breakfast too.

Geesh, That is a little Harsh.. Yes, I know OSR covers them a lot...They build some nice cars though... Having a shop myself I know it is good to get exposure any way you can.... It doesn't make you a scenester because you have tats just like having a car doesn't mean you are a car guy.. Everyone's tastes are diff..I like both shows.. I don't look like a hotrodder at all.... Clean cut, no tats, no smokin or heavy drinkin....But, I live cars everyday... bringing metal chips into the house for the wife to yell about and all that goes with building....These poeple are looking for info not your soapbox preaching....EVILT

Hey guys, don't forget the possibility of RV'ing. Sorry, I can't remember the specific park name, but I remember someone saying that they stayed in an RV park near the show. Find a cool vintage Airstream or the like and go that way. Hotels aren't your only choice.

paso is the best show. my buddy danny helps penny put on the show along with other memebers of the saints angels.good luck on finding a room. last year my wife and i stayed out of town 40 minute drive one way. but its worth it.

  21. Wow, that was kind of rude. But we did Viva every year because it was our Anniversary. And as far as I know, Viva has been going longer. Anyhow, like I said, Jonah has really been wanting to go to Paso, so all I needed was info. Seems like you are being more of a scenester by telling us to stay away. But thank you to those of you who had info...it helped!

  22. Hahaha! That is so true. I never ever complain about the time, or the money, or the noise...but when I step on a metal shaving with my bare foot, boy does Jonah hear it! Haha, that was so right on.

  23. This past year was #25 for Paso. From my limited yet very functional memery 2006 was #9 for Viva Las Vegas

Hey man, Don't make Paso to be some Surf Punks song "My Beach". Oh, "X" hotels are booked, so just skip it bullshit. If you stick to your guns and maybe some help, it can be done. It's tough, but you can find a room in Paso or close-by. Good Luck!

I will be glad to help out anyone who may need ideas... There are a lot of hotels to be had within 40 miles of Paso...I gots me one of those books with all the local numbers for the places to lay your heads down.EVILT

  28. I may have to take you up on that. I know my father in law is probably going to stay at the RV park, but I would rather have a hotel room. Since it is only a 1 day thing (right?) I don't mind finding a hotel a little futher away. We live in the country so I am used to driving!

And I didn't know it was such a long-standing tradition! Even more reason to go...I like to go to Viva for the music and the clothes and the Vegas experience (and yeah the cars too), but we would both like to go to something a little less "sceney" and a little more car-dense. From the coverage in mags and word of mouth from friends, Paso seems like the place to go for us custom folk. Hopefully we can make it!

    Hey Cherry.
We should try and get a decent size group from the Northwest. Could be a good time.
