I could be a wise-ass and point out that Down Under a*****ernut squash (Cucurbita moschata) is often called a gramma. But that might be poor grammar, and my gramma taught me to speek betta.

Yep, I threw away the metric conversion gears for my lathe.

 

And "brakes" and "breaks"....I rest my case....

how does that work when Im havin a*****ty day and I brakes a bolt off or am I breaksen it?

 

I still dont know what size a 5.7 is when they ask me what engine my 71 ranch wagon has I tell em its a 460 my 56 ford is a 292 68 mustang is a 351, guess Im fibben a bit here I know what engine is in my 2011 ford diesel cause it has 6.7 powerstroke on the door.

 

Perspective man. In Oct 1974 gas was 30 cents a gallon. Two months later it was 60 cents a gallon. Less then 6 months after that it was a buck a gallon. The price of gas raised 3x its original price in less then 9 months.

It was quite a shock to the people with cars that got 10-12 mpg, which was most of the gas buying public at the time.

Look at the price at the gas pump where you live, imagine in 2 short months it is double that price, then in less then 6 months later, it increases by another 50%. I'm betting you wouldn't be happy seeing those increases.

We scream if the price goes up 50 cents a gallon, because it takes money away from what we had to spend on other things.

In inches, hands, feet, cubits, yards, rods and yes we saw the*****S, but that is an IQ measurement not length. We also just eyeball and lot of stuff.
