Wow, They are going to have to rewrite the 27 roadster on 32 rails textbook for this one.
    Well done. 27 T roadster Mindover.jpg

  3. Looks fantastic! So happy to see it on the road! Any chance you’ll be at Goodwood in the fall? We have tentative plans to attend again this year if all goes well...

Dave, I did wonder about the silence. Am very happy to hear you're back and that your daughter is on the mend. As for the car, it is to kill for, to me it's everything such a rod should be. And because I know how good your brother is, I'm sure "good job without going over the top" is better than more than 99% of the spray jobs one is likely to encounter! Definitely would pay a visit if I'm in the UK again. Best wishes, G

I couldn't have finished it without help from people on here. Particularly you. The information you gave me in regard to the T sections and deck panels was invaluable. Thanks for freely giving you time and taking detailed photos for me. As for Goodwood I'm not sure at the moment.

Thanks again for the positive comments about the roadster. It drives really well. I can't wait for summer. I am finishing a few things over winter. I hope to fit the rest of the interior trim and I am making mudguards which will be Quick fit and removal, just because of the amount of rain we get here in blighty.

So here are a couple of photos of some details I included on the T. I chose these tail lights because I wanted something a little different I didn't want them set in the body so I made the stalks and added the ford logo just for fun. The indicator lights, it took me a while to decide if I should fit any at all but in the end I made these- the arrow is copied from the front grill of the 1932 Le roache Talbot. I have made a few of these radiator shells so incorporated this design into the simple holders. There is no holes in the body for these lights, they clamp on. I also put the Ford logo onto the steering drop bracket that I made. IMG_20240125_102824_867.jpg IMG_20240125_102959_965.jpg

I created an interior for the car by buying two front seats and a rear seat from eBay. These originated from an old Austin. I cut the rear seat down added some extra metal and foam in the appropriate places to make it fit the car. I used the front seat swabs and backs to create the trim panels for the doors and bun panels. The vinyl from the back of the front seats I used to cover the kick panel area. It's all proper tuck n roll. I used foam board as a backing. I am very pleased with it. It's not perfect but it has a patina and looks the part. Best of all it cost a total of around three hundred pounds. About four hundred dollars. IMG_20240227_114857_031.jpg

All I can say,.... "WOW"... what a nice build!!! there is so much right with this car...
I've been on the hunt for a 27 roadster, some of the head scratcher cars I've looked at
and how they did the build...gotta wonder what were they thinking.. things like not having the motor placed right..down too low and at too much angle, the grille not in the center of the front tires..sit on the car not in it. wrong tires and wheels/off set and size... besides the attention to detail..this car hits it out of the park in the "How it should look"

question??? I love the as it should Suttle look of the exhaust, does it have mufflers?? I wanted the same look on my model A... split to both sides... I did end up with 10'' mufflers, and a sound like no other... sounds like two motor cycles racing down the road... flatties have that cool "Popcorn" sound when you straight pipe them. so I Amagine it sounds like it should for the build era....

Thank you I'm glad you like the car. Got to be short to drive it though!.

As for the exhausts, I fitted motorcycle baffles into the pipes two each side. One at each end of the straight portion of pipe. I was prepared to hide some extra home made mufflers by tucking them behind the straight pipe but to be honest it's not ridiculously loud. Well not at moderate revs.

So I now have almost 3000 miles on the odometer. It has run flawlessly. I drove it to Pendine Sands for the hotrod races and raced on the beach. (This event is put on by Neil Fretwell (VINTAGE HOT ROD ASSOCIATION) assisted by members of my car club the Sidewinders). This was a more than 600 mile round trip. I did several other trips out to various events and have done 300 miles in a day several times in it. It's comfortable to drive (for what it is) my wife enjoys going out in it too which is a bonus. I have noticed it smokes a bit which is a bit of a worry and it uses a bit of oil. Before I ran it the heads were off as I fitted new head gaskets. At that point there were still hone swirls in the bores. I will do a pressure test when I get time but I'm hoping it's nothing too serious. Any advice would be appropriated.

Out and about in the roadster. After all these years building it, it's been great to just use it... Even if it's just for dropping a customer off at his plane at the local airfield.

Or for me and wifey driving about and lunch, this was a pub in Felixstowe.

Sidewinders cars on the beach at Pendine Sands hot rod races. My car is just peeking out fourth from front.

    Hi David.
Joe from Canada here. I still enjoy that DVD. :)
The T still looks great! I'm glad you are both enjoying it.
Hopefully a pressure/leak-down test will give you some idea of where the issue is.
I'm sure the folks here with real experience on that engine will have lots of info for you.
Good to see you are still at it.

Beautiful car, How do you make the ford logo that you added to the column drop?
    Thanks?

Not at all - I found it very frustrating that it spent so much time on the other side of the barrier and I couldn’t get at it!

IMG_20230423_154342_349.jpg So I said I would post the rest of the build on here. If there is interest I will continue to show what I did. These photos show the finished chassis. Which is close to where I left off.
