@2devilles - The bubbletop is a knockout! Wow! Are the new Supremes just like the vintage ones? There was an issue with the welds & spokes shifting I believe.
Hey, thanks for the compliment....on the wheels: It depends on what brand you get as to the issues. These are "newer" and are Allied brand. They were the "tougher" sets of the new ones that had gussets welded on them. I did research what was what at the time. The '70 has probably 30k miles on the wheels with zero issues, and the '60 has roughly 15k. The quality of the chrome is impressive on them, the '70 spends 95% of it's time outside here in Montana, and I've only had to do a light 0000 steel wool job on them after winter.
Centerline Rev, my favorite, and thankfully I purchased a set before they changed them and quit making the originals. Now the outer portion of the wheel has some ugly looking ribs. They’re also made in an unappealing black anodized look. I wish I could find another set of 15 x 7’s and a pair of 17 x 6’s but the originals are difficult to find.
Patiently waiting for someone here who likes the stuff I pulled off my project. I'll let 'em go for a reasonable price!

I don't remember what this style is called but they are Rockets also, I bought them used and they are definitely retro inspired. I think they look good on the right vehicle, these are on my little daily driver ranger (I didn't know I needed a mini truck but I'm enjoying 25 miles a gallon). Anyways I agree with you they are good looking wheels. I don't think I would put them on a Model A but on a mid to late 1960s mid or full size I would probably run them.
17-in Wheels look good on a 1960s vehicle generally speaking, they are not too big and the tire has enough sidewall to absorb the potholes on our screwed up California roadways without any damage to the rim. I used to have a 67 Fury that I put a set of torque thrust twos on they were fully polished 17x8" when the car have the stock 14s on it it looked like it had a personality of the nerdy kid at school, once it was wearing the 17s and I turned the torsions down just a tad to get it sitting right the car had an attitude like a drink Pabst Blue ribbon beer while talking to the prettiest girl in the room... Wheels can really make or break a vehicle a Nova wagon on a set of torque thrust twos would look killer.
Hello, When the American Racing Equipment wheels came out for the drag racers only, folks wanted them for their street hot rods and cruisers. They were all 15" in size. 17 inch wheels and tires were a thing in the 1970s and not 60s. The 70s style started with sporty cars doing a larger rims, but keeping low profile tires. A plus one, plus two aspect. etc. So, the 1962-63 version was all 15 inch only. Then when the American Racing 5 spoke actually became street legal and the specs allowed everyday street usage, they were 14-15 inch. Something to do with ability to absorb more street "stuff," instead of straight 1/4 mile drag strips for 10 seconds. Sure, 17 inch wheels use the opening of wheel wells much better, but some nice 55 chevy wagons and sedans have been deleted despite the cool looks due to having 17 inch wheels here on the HAMB. We are all trying to keep our stories about HAMB rules and specs. So, no 17 inch wheels at all for add on tires and rims. Jnaki The modern cars have 17-18 and 19 inch rims with low profile tires. But, they are trying to be the sporty sedans and station wagons. As teenagers, all we saw were 15 inch until the 14's came out for the factory hot rods. The stance on that car brings me back to the mid-1990s Southern California Street Race scene. There was a guy that had a crazy fast rotary in a first gen RX7 (if I remember right he also had an r100). That was my first time I ever acknowledged an import being fast.
My dad was a big time Mazda guy. We have owned tons. We had an R100, RX-2, RX-3, RX-4, RX-7, Protege', Pretege 5, and a Millenia.
I bought a turbo eagle talon when I was a teen that had these wheels on it. I rocked them until I crashed the car trying to showy friends how to drift in an AWD.
