In a sea of kustoms with 47 or 57 Cadillac sombreros, in your opinion what are some unappreciated hubcaps that aren’t used as often as they should?
    Here’s 3 for me…

56 sombrero. To my eye more interesting than the 57.

62 Cadillac, would look great on any 60’s kustom.

52 Buick, would look good on both 40’s and 50’s kustoms.

Yup, those Cadillac caps require a really interesting looking wheel, they look like they're mounted backwards when they're on the car without a cap. Good looking caps for sure, but very limited use case unless you're running something with 5 on 5" bolt pattern. Those Buick caps aren't as bad for depth requirements but they definitely hit the center on a lot of non-Buick wheels.

I feel like some of the early 50's Plymouth caps look just like Lyon caps but with a ship instead of a lion/shield motif in the center, and the Plymouth ones are dirt cheap.

Really though, any/all full wheel covers are under-utilized.

  6. I still like the same ones for full size. Olds, Plymouth, Desoto and Mercury.

Don't see many Dodge lancers any more. I was running them in 62 on my dumped 53 Bel Air 2 dr hardtop.

My Dad (and most of the guys around his age) said that back in the mid to late 60's... Everyone in this area (Piedmont NC) ran these on their ride. Dad had a set on his first 57 chevy. He also ran 64 SS Impala hubcaps on the same car.

  13. I oddly like 55-56 Chevy 150/210 dog dish caps on other year Chevys. Actually used to have a set on my 53

I've used the Stude caps myself with a little modification. . .

  19. Pic stolen from @1oldtimer post. But I actually want a set of these. Most I find are overpriced or overly damaged oldsmobile.JPG

I always thought the Studebaker caps would make a killer matching air cleaner lid....

What year are those Studebaker caps guys ? I'm really diggin those.

  24. Think mine were 54

  25. I think Studebaker was still using a cap very similar to those into the early '60s. At least I seem to recall seeing them on new '63-'64 Avantis.

  26. There’s at least 2 different versions. Smooth and one with some dimples around the center like this
IMG_2507.jpeg And these are sorta kinda a version I guess
