after about only half of the people who wanted to use the chat i set up last winter were able to do so, i set up a new one with a different user interface and platform... so what you ask?

well, lets try this one.

my computer and my nick will be in there 24/7 so if i dont answer when you come in, dont call me names, i might cry or stub my toe when i run off and pout in the corner

PM me if you try this thing and tell me how well it worked for you, if it DID or DID NOT either way i'd like to know

click on the little button on the upper left of the page, then type in your HAMB screen name and connect... its all REAL simple, and loads SUPER fast in both IE and Firefox

Failed to connect to server: Unknown Error : java.net.SocketException: Software caused connection abort: connect

any ideas? At all?

sounds like firewall problems for rusty... and i'll check into the other one

firewall more than likely... it cant open if your firewall or IT guy has java blocked

Does it make sense that the old chat still works for me? I used to be able to get into any chat, then all of a sudden I can only get into some. But its always the same ones that I can or cannot get into.

Any ideas? How do I set my java?

Btw, I tried IE and firefox.

there IS a program that can be downloaded and used to connect dirrect and not use the browser based deal i posted... i can configure one and make it available for download if there would be enough interest

For those who are comfortable with downloading and configuring simple programs, here is some information...

with this software, there are NO reasons why you cannot connect to the chatroom as it is not dependant on a browser to function at all.

go to the mIRC website, and download and then install the software

then once you have it running, type

/server irc.centralchat.net

then

/join #Rods_&_Customs

and Bobs your uncle

if you have trouble with this software, complete instructions are on that website where you can download it or PM me... i been doing the IRC chat for years

altho the server and channel are the same, i cant help with configure on a mac... fruit is for salads, not the internet

trav, there are some issues there. I can log in one time and be fine, others I get a screen that never works.

 

Crankshaft_Sid is in there and nobody else...not sure if it's just me, or if it's just quiet in there right now...

 

Trent, try emptying your cache and then re-load your browser. seems to be the case on my machine once in a while as well.
