I have had this porcelain sign over 30 years, the hood area looks a lot like an early 356 Porsche. Anyone know anything about this shop???
pretty sure that predates the 356. Automotive maintenance associations were a thing in the 30s-40s. It's not a sign for one shop, it's a sign that shows the shop is a member of that association.
looks like one of those 'safety cars' made by inventor types that show up in threads here every so often!--and yes, older than the porsche...
It's exactly what it says it is, A sign that Automotive maintenance Association of Sacramento members hung on their building or shop wall.
Automotive Maintenance Association of Sacremento franchise was suspended/disolved in April 1972. Home base for the organization was at 930 Enterprise Drive in Sacremento but as pointed out that sign was on the members own shop to show they were part of a group of trusted mechanics from this organization. At 930 Enterprise Drive has a 2,665 sq. ft. 1 story office type building that was built in 1962. It currently houses a yoga studio.
Kind of like a modern shop displaying a sign that says they are "ASE Certified" or a "NAPA Care Care Center".
Neat sign and great research! Now do the Affiliated With ALLIED AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRIES. A search shows it being an inactive non profit based in Mn. https://opencorporates.com/companies/us_mn/9256a350-a0d4-e011-a886-001ec94ffe7f
"Now do the Affiliated With ALLIED AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRIES. A search shows it being an inactive non profit based in Mn." Just using the link that RodStRace posted Allied Automotive Industries was disolved in 1997 but what i find interesting it was formed in Nov. of 1922.
