Hmm, I was told on here that scrub was a modern issue. That car in the lower right hand corner must be a time traveler.

They needed something that consumed rats and mice. The Cobra loured you into a sense of well being before it made the kill. Names back then were all about the action.

Wonder why we liked the Corvette clear vacuum molded shape for our road race and drag racing slot cars? Details were obvious, except for not adding the 671 supercharger. It was too much weight for a 1 second car, scale wise.

    Hello,

One day, I was doing some research on racing Corvettes. My favorite was the J&J Muffler Shop line up of 60s Corvettes. The team always had the fastest Corvette in the West Coast and perhaps the USA during those times.
    upload_2024-10-26_3-57-21.png

Of course, the Maroon/Candy Apple/Tahitian Red color old Corvettes always had success when touring.

We enjoyed the 1960 style Corvette so much that it was going to be one of my brother’s choices for the next build for our racing days. We had the motor already set and if necessary, a larger stroke would be the next step for the 671 supercharged SBC motor.

Who would not want a Corvette that looked like this one and ran so powerfully that it won almost all races during this time period.

Perhaps, a bright red version would work better on the teenage hot rod/cruising scene… YRMV

    Hello,

Up close and personal gives one a bird’s eye view of, “what it feels like to be like Willie Borsch…”

When I was wandering around the custom prep area of the newly created Lion’s Dragstrip museum grand opening, I stumbled upon several “eye popping” developments. One was the famous dark maroon Modified Roadster/Altered of the Borsch-Marcellus fame.

A little history goes back several years from 1958-1960 to the Harrell-Borsch Altered/Modified (record setting) Roadster.

"This is the Harrell Engines car with a Hemi under the hood. The A started life as the Tony Berardini's flathead powered #7 (a sister car to the now restored #404 Berardini car) but after Bob Morgan totaled Harrell's 34 coupe around 1954 Jim (White) Harrell and brother Nick purchased the roadster and put their flathead in the car. In late 1955 they teamed up with Willie Borsch to run Hemi power."

The build in 1960 onward was assisted by Howard Johansen (of Howard's Cams), Don Reynolds, Phil Johnson, Dale Young, and Jerry Hyatt. The car's 392 hemi was built by Jim Harrell (of Jim's Auto Parts).

It was fun to see what Willie Borsch sees prior to rolling up to the starting line. But, in this case, the drive shaft was missing. I found out that due to regulations for displaying driveable, but static, drag racing race cars, the drive shaft removal prevents accidental movement of any kind, due to unforeseen circumstances.
