I can second that. Every transaction I’ve had has been outstanding, says a lot about our group!

put an ad in the wanted section here, also check with french lake auto parts in Annandale ,Mn they have thousands of cars in the yard from the 20's thru the 60's and ship parts daily....

  9. I recently had another excellent transaction with a fellow Hamber, fortunately all my buying and selling on the Hamb have been smooth with no problems.

    Sorry you got scammed. HRP

Kinda clever of the crook to state "Former account got hacked" in the ad.
I guess it sounds better than "I got exposed as a crook in my old account".
And to think he's a family man.

I don't know how this "IG" works, are the high number of followers and posts just made up BS?

    Higher numbers suggest credibility.
The numbers are posted by IG, which suggests they are real.
In reality, you can buy Likes and Followers, dirt cheap. Same on FB.

Give Big M's auto wrecking in Williams a call. Also Turner's Auto Wrecking in Fresno.

Always, ALWAYS ask for more photos of the parts, with their business card or letterhead in shot.

Having lots of followers on social media is like being a millionaire in monopoly... its all fake.

  17. I am not sure where East Bay is but I am thinking California? If so have you tried Turner's in Fresno for your fender?
If you have never been there be prepared to spend the better part of a day walking the yard it's probably 40 to 60 acres of nothing but old cars and all the parts are relatively reasonably priced at least from my little bit of experience.

I agree, the hamb is the best for getting parts. From the East coast to the West coast, I've procured parts with no problems. And I thank everyone for the great support.

It would be nice if you shared more info on how you got scammed, along with what you may have missed with the seller, to help others avoid the same result.

  23. The InsaScammers often grab photos from the H.A.M.B and post them as their own.

I recognized the garage in the background of these as my buddy’s and checked with him just to make sure the person on Instagram hadn’t bought them and wasn’t reselling them and just using old photos.

It was a scam I reported it on IG and blocked the scammer!

Instagram and Facebook can be a great place to buy parts. I’d do a fair share of business there. It’s not hard
Does the guy have only awesome parts for sale? Doesn’t post anything else? Scam.
Also the hot rod world is small even overseas. You can usually verify somebody through 2 degrees of separation. Think about it. Are there many hot rod guys in your area you don’t know? Well basically everywhere is like that. If you need to spend a lot of cash for something you can find someone who knows somebody that knows that guy. If not then move on if you aren’t comfortable
I’ve sold parts and a car overseas through Instagram. It’s fine. Facebook is fine done a ton of business there and this place is fine too.

Absolutely. With social media today, there is much more exposure and parts available. There have always been scammers, they have just moved from outright theft and then selling at swap meets or at "midnight auto"...they can always find greedy suckers, that should know better.
Seems some of the "older" generation has this irrational fear of today's hi tech culture, and stubbornly refuses to adapt.
