Stopped by Bexar Bones Garage and dropped off some parts for the 36. So the plan is to put it together for a local car show happening this weekend, cruise it a bit and then it’ll go to the paint shop mid-November. There are more plans for the car, but my painter is getting busier and busier, so I have to lock him in.
Anyways here are a few shots of the shop, Hope yall enjoy.

 

So after trying to get the new whitewalls cleaned up, I noticed this brown/orange tinting (top tire) on my white walls.
It happened to the tire (bottom tire) I had on prior to this one and you can totally see what’s going on with these Coker Firestone Whitewalls. I just called Summit and told them, they are aware of the problem. I’m going to be returning both of them to hopefully get a nice pair. They said Coker has a recall due to this issue? Did anyone hear about this? There is absolutely no way of taking the brown off.

I’ve found that nice bias ply’s are plentiful and cheap on marketplace. Guys buy traditional cars and immediately swap them out for radials.

 

we're here man! not really a custom guy but I love '36's and appreciate when they're well done and traditional like yours....the paint color the car started out with is perfect...if you can come up with a name or code for it I would like to know! Hope you keep it that deep maroon

 

Just the found this thread also, I usually loiter on the hot rod side, but love 35/6 customs, well done, have subscribed & looking forward to the updates!

 

Love the car except the skirts. Im a hard pass on skirts on anything pre 48.

Small little update, I took the day off Thursday and Friday, so I can put the car together while Chris finished the driver side fender skirt. A couple of Club buddies came over and helped me put the Zephyr Bumper on, I had done it before, but it was a bit crooked. Got it all straight now, put the Chrysler taillights and Door handles on, windshield on. Swapped the drums back to wide five and put my Hollywood Flipper Hubcaps on etc etc. Turned it on and drove it, I hadn’t driven it in I think 8 months .
Came home super late Friday night, only to wake up and meet up with the Club at 0600 and went to a car show about an hour away. Had a blast, saw so many cars, drank beers, had a bunch of laughs. On the drive home, my Temperature was rising super fast, it was 97 degrees outside, but my Flathead has never overheated and it did just that. Pulled over and called AAA. The next day I cleaned everything up and noticed the hose had come off, fixed, no blown head gaskets (good) I noticed the fan belt was very loose, so I adjusted the generator to have really good tension, added fluids, drove around a lot and it’s all good. I think because there was no tension on the water pump pulleys the pumps were not flowing, thus causing overheating.

 

I'm going to start looking now that you mentioned it.

 

It's a Nissan/Infinity color I know that for a fact, the year I don't know, but I can give you that information when I drop the car off for paint. I want to darken the color a bit more.

It wasn't too bad, I'm not rich, I work hard for my money, but the only way I was going to achieve this was to make payments, luckily for me both Fabricators were willing to do it.

Sure did, overheated on the way home, but I got it all figured out now. The little 21 stud is still chugging along.

The brown white walls has been talked about a few times over the last 5 or so years. I think the over simplified answer is that the tire is basically off gassing/ leaching chemicals and staining the white wall. It would not scrub off because it’s not on top of the white wall. It is the white wall.

a lose pump belt could let it get hot, also it would not be the first time someone lost a radiator hose and dumped coolant onto the the road on their way home with out noticing till it was hot hot hot.

either way sounds like you’ve got it sorted.
