Hot Rods Big Daddy's 55 2 door wagon gasser

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Lloyd's paint & glass, Jul 1, 2024.

  1. Somewhere in the cobwebbed corners of my memory I seem to remember a rubber gromet and a PCV valve stuck in one of those.

    chryslerfan55 and porkshop like this.
  2. How many engines is this wagon gonna have, anyway? Lol

I think the 63 Fuelie Vettes had the grommet in the back with a chrome steel pipe and PCV valve running to the plenum.

  4. Just the magic Mike 350. I thought it was a game here to collect shit you don't need? Lmao!

  6. I'm thinking about building an engine and finding a body to build me a trailer queen bracket car. But that will be next winters project.

Just keep gathering parts and when the project starts, then build the engine. I have a few spare project engines that I have collected over time. The problem with getting them ready before you have the project on hand is you usually have to go back through them when you finally find the right project. Even with the exhaust ports taped and the intake sealed up, I have found surface corrosion in some of my project motors when they sit. Even prepping the block too early can require a dingle ball hone just to touch up when you go to build.

  8. I have my eye on a Vega. I usually move fairly quick when I start something.

  9. I thought all the Vegas were already built into drag cars! :D

I actually want to see a video of Lloyd getting in and out of one:p My kid is 6'3" weighs 270 , It was pretty funny watching him get in over the bar and seeing his helmet almost touch the roof. Mark won't be pleased with sub compact talk.....

Vegas were shitty cars when they were new, surely they have not gotten better with age

Every manufacturer had their attempt at affordable people's car. Chevy had the Vega, Ford the Pinto, and even Chrysler got into the act with the K car. Each sold a ton, turned out to be not that great reliability wise and safety wise. And since they are all off topic let me just say the Vega at least has some racing value. But they being the affordable option when I was growing up is the reason I turned to hot rods. Never saw a factory car that couldn't be made better.

  27. Mom and Dad bought a brand new Vega when they came out. Dad drove it and Mom had their new 70 Monte Carlo. He always complained the Vega used as much gas as the Monte.

Everybody who was at Lloydfest, saw Randy buckling in Little Truckdoctor into Steve’s wicked 57. Little Truckdoctor is 14 and 6’3”. Can you guys imagine trying to buckle him into a Vega?
