1969 Camaro Owned for 53 Years

Along with my long term interest in the early cars, I love the 1960’s & early 1970’s Muscle Cars. Along with my 1933 & 1934 Ford coupes, I have my mother’s 1957 Chevy (I drove to high school in 1969/70) and my deceased brother’s 1955 Chevy. I’m involved in cloning the Nova that I’ve wanted since high school (Dusk Blue 396/4 speed).

Through everything that my life has experienced, I still own & enjoy the 350/4 speed 1969 Camaro that I bought in 1971 when I was 18 years old and working at our local Ford dealer. The car still wears 50+ year old Lacquer paint. It’s never even needed a front end alignment. The car has no rattles or squeaks. The original upholstery is still presentable. The transmission has not faired as well as the remainder of the car. Multiple performance demonstrations/contests have resulted in mechanical failure. Yes, the car has also earned me multiple “driving awards” from various law enforcement agencies. I’m preparing to reinstall the freshened up original 350 back into the car.

 

That is a nice fleet. And the history of them all is priceless....

I just noticed some Ford goober misspelled ''Camaro'' on your original invoice. Saw on the other thread it's a no console car. All business, cool!

 

LOL. Yeah, they made the same mistake on the hand written sales agreement (prepared by the salesman) and the invoice (prepared by the accounting staff).

The car is a little unusual in that it came equipped with multi leaf rear springs, quick ratio power steering, spoilers, and a 350 engine (rather than a 327).

12 bolt rear? The ''new'' 350 was not very far behind the base 325hp 396 in power. Yet you enjoyed lower insurance rates. Ever look for and find a build sheet?

 

It might be above the fuel tank or.... Behind or below the back seat....

I’ve had the fuel tank, seats & carpet out of the car, but found no build sheet was found. The car came with a 2.73 ratio 10 bolt open rear, but I have a fresh 4.10 12 bolt posi ready to install. I’m also installing a reproduction stainless steel chambered exhaust system when the fresh engine goes back in.

 

Dark blue has always been my favorite color: Both the Camaro & the ‘69 Nova are Dusk Blue
