Hello, This little café was located on a fairly narrow part of the coast. The highway south ran right by and parking was always a long oceanfront parking row. It was about 4 miles south of where we always surfed in the summer when the big South swells we hit at Trestles/Huntington Beach went up the coast in a few days to create the long lines at Malibu Surfrider Beach. So, our itinerary was surf trestles as many days as we could with the rising crowd and then head up the coast from Long Beach to arrive in the dark at Malibu Surfrider Beach. Slow Down? Not during a good “South swell” for us. But, it was challenging to want to surf the best at the dangerous Camp Pendleton surf spots vs the Marines. Or, drive up to Mailbu in the dark, so we could get at least several hours of good empty or fairly empty waves prior to the mad summer rush hour at this popular surf spot. Malibu Surfrider Beach. Jnaki So, afterwards, all surfed out was the key. Sometimes we just took a nap in the back of the sedan delivery and then headed home. but, the local hamburger places were crowded with the beach goers and surfers that packed this portion of the coastline. We knew it was impossible to get a good meal. The short drive south to this little café on the sand and a narrow parking also on the coast was located in a row of homes south from the pier. No good surfing waves here, so, no surfers packing the few if any public parking spots. The row of homes are typical malibu beach front homes, with the waves crashing up and rolling under the pilings. This little café offered lunch and dinner, what ever time we left Malibu Surfrider Beach just a few mile up the coastline. It was a nice place and we always sat at the counter. Shades of eating at downtown Long Beach Kress or Newberry’s department store lunch counter as little kids… Note: We always saved money for the long coastal drive home at any hour, so this little café was there at lunch hour and for dinner. Seafood for dinner and if we got there for lunch, no other surfers, but some families in the booths. So, several bowls of clam chowder was ordered for lunch as it was some of the best seafood on this coastline. YRMV
