I kinda figured that's how you obtained them - but I like my version better for the govt-folks & others that are gob-smacked by the Garage-Mahahl . It makes for a good yarn... . Marcus...
BTDT...prices just keep going up...I can't even get a bid on the electrical in 2 weeks, and it's a friend of my contractor... I keep getting sidetracked looking at old trucks, I'd really like a 4WD, but the Chevy is gonna have to do and I'll hope it gets up the driveway. I have a '97 Ford F-SuperDuty I haul with, and it only gets 8MPG. I like the old Internationals, but dayum if they don't get about 10MPG, so it's not like one of those would be buying me much in regard to fuel costs. Yours is going up fast, your wife must be happy. Happy wife, happy life!
Not a lot of visual progress to show. I rented a trencher and spent 12 hours digging ditches for my rainwater collection system, the well, propane lines etc. did the same thing over at my daughters new place, next door. Probably about 600’ of trenches total. It was 100* and about 45% humidity. Nice and toasty. It always cracks me up when I read or watch videos of people that have good soil digging root cellars or garden beds….they don’t know how good they have it. Here’s my view at 24” down. The ground was harder than a …….insert joke here. And yes it’s smoking.
You probably should have went 36” deep . Global warming and colder winters . Just yanking your chain . Trenching is never easy. One summer the Folks had to have their natural gas line replaced. It was in August in a Bermuda pasture. Ground was dry and hard as cement. The trenchers tires spun more then the trenching attachment
Not a lot going on right now. Well, let me rephrase that....not a lot I can take pics of. I am really focusing on getting the property ready for the wedding. Lots of mowing, trimming of trees and picking up lumber etc. Maybe some progress pics soon.
The wedding is 23 days away and I have been focusing on getting my daughter’s house finished, so progress has slowed on the shop. I did order 125,000 lbs of gravel for my parking lot and since I had the sod guy coming out for her place, I had him throw on a few pallets for me to settle the dust a little. I did also get my well hooked up, so at least I can water now.
Well, the wedding is over. The cleanup is done, now I can get back on my project. Drug the Avalair down to the shop so we could crash if we got tired of thrashing. We took a couple of days off after the wedding........sort of recoup for a bit. Now to get back on track. Tomorrow we charge the hill!!!
Chris You clean up good . Good thing your Daughter takes after her Mom . lol I’m thankful my daughters take after their Mother
Today was the first day back in the grind. I have been paranoid about someone drilling or nailing into my water lines in the mechanical room, so today was prevention day. My goal for this retirement house/shop is service access. I had a manifold block installed for my plumbing. I want to be able to shut off circuits as required. Part of the deal I made with Mama Root was that I would soundproof the walls between the two to prevent shop noise and fumes from becoming obnoxious. So, today I started decking the walls on the shop side. It is 3/4” plywood. It will get insulated with rock wool and then sheeted on the back side with another sheet of 3/4” on the house side. That will be followed with 1/2” Sheetrock. I am also caulking all the of the joints to prevent fumes from getting through. I built the access door out of scraps left over from my daughter’s house build, next door. I don’t throw much away…. Anyway, you get the idea.
@Roothawg you are a blessed man to get your daughter off. Good on you and your wife! That's special also, married at your barndo??? You're coming along on the barndo also! Go, Dog, go!
Well, sort of. She built a house next door and we were thrashing to complete it for the wedding. We had it in her back yard and we used my place for parking. Shuttled everyone in a golf cart.
That's even better, they were married on their own property? That's way cool! I can't think of a better marriage. Let's hope they go a long way in this messed up world! Hey, that's the new Son-In-Hawg, right?
Man, old Mother Nature sure caused me a lot of work. It’s rained about 9.5” in the last 24 hours. We needed the rain, but it would have been way better if it had spanned a month or so. Created a ton of tractor work for me.
Well, we decided to make the most of it. I decided to do something that didn’t bring us any closer to moving in, but it made me feel better. I added some of my old vintage windows to the office wall.
Bummer about the storm water damage. My daughter is up in Fayetteville Arkansas in school and she said she has never seen so much rain, especially coming from CA.
First day back at work. 3 weeks off sure makes it hard to come back. I got a little stuff done. Been moving stuff from one shop to the other etc. Since the red dirt is prevalent all around the shop, I figured I would at least attempt to keep the staining down to a minimum on the concrete. At least make it look intentional on the porches and mama’s garage. I acid stained the concrete and then sealed it. We have done this at our current place and it still looks good 5 years later. Here are a few pics.
That looks very nice . Almost aged look about it . Fake patina on concrete who would have thought of that lol
Just in the few days I had cleaned it to prep it for stain….I had coon tracks, coyote and armadillo. I was about to start shooting…
