Folks Of Interest The Friday Art Show!

This is a picture of someone l was privileged to call a friemd even though we had never met face to face. We had many interesting phone conversations and spirited discussions. I had made him a couple of my display striping brushes and a plate for his wifes car and he had gifted me a set of his fantastic car show videos and great pictures. For one reason or another,we hadnt talked in awhile and the other day l read of his passing more than a year ago. So today l offer up this pic of a great pinstriper, photographer,editor,author, and friend Andrew Southard Jr. Rest in peace my brother of the brush!

...I don't include those lil aliens in all my sketches, and sometimes I have a hard time findin them,...but there are 5 in this week's board...I had to look pretty hard to find em all.

I have always enjoyed the cool artwork you produce, this particular piece has some interesting composition, that in my opinion, is interesting enough, to want know the story of the piece itself.

I was messing around with 6 cylinder coupe ideas. Y'know, a nice double-drop space frame under an Aluminum body - type deal. A coupe, like an E-type Jaguar or a 135 Delahaye. With a nice '39 Buick front. I've seen a '39 Buick with a home-built grille recently (using the same '39 cavity).
So this front is modeled somewhat on a '39 Buick.
The girl I drew at a car show. She was sitting on grass, checking her messages. She looked good, so I drew her. Quick. I don't draw folks without their knowledge too often. It can be construed as a bit creepy or rude esp. women- esp. young women. But anyway, I drew her, and here she is.
I can't recall the men. I was watching 'Breaking Bad' at the time, so it has that kinda vibe, maybe.
I got the Breaking Bad DVD from a dying artist. I got the whole box set.

I get a bunch of trade magazines and I ran across a story featuring Lil John Buttera’s grand daughter, Katie Buttera in THE SHOP. Her stuff is interesting and creative. Her website is AppleGirlArt.com. That’s a reference to her grandfather and that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
