Hot Rods Chopped closed cab model a

  1. I would leave it stock height and do your magic under the hood. You probably could have guessed that looking at my AVATAR.

What do you have for a seat? Too thick of a seat in these things and you really notice it.

  4. stock model a seat, it's pretty thin on the bottom but back is around 4 inches thick

  5. Can't say it wouldn't be rad!

I wouldn't recommend using the stock seat. They don't help with room in the cab.

Stock seat in my '31 Roadster Pickup. Top of the seat back is too thick so I bound down the springs at the top with mechanics wire so seat back now tapers. WAY more comfortable!!

Is stretching the cab, an option ?

  15. I wish I had a set of fenders, if I did I definitely wouldn't chop it

Model A fenders aren’t too expensive anymore. You already have the really expensive parts (the doors).

I'm 5.5 so I could raise the seat up slightly 2" to help with leg room .
I don't have a lot of head room after. I tilted the seat bottom back slightly also to raise my knees up slightly .
The seat back needs to be as thin as possable . If i was taller I'd likely hate the truck .

The slight rake makes it hard to look way down the road or see a stop light.
Im planning on dropping the rear more now that the wheels fit inside the fenders. Hopefully it will help with the view down the road .
I really noticed it when the 2" taller tires raised the back up.
I would not want mine chopped. More than a inch would look out of proportion IMO.
Get them low enough and the cab dosent look so tall IMO.

Fenderless then a slight chop would be ok but man it's a really tight fit .
If i was doing it fenderless and cutting it up I'd stretch the cab to .
Not to much but 3" would really help .

Now my 31 cab thats going no fenders and channeled ( most likely ) I'm considering a 2" chop.

Hmmm never thought of trying the springs down to thin the seat back .
Might need to pull the cover off again this winter . :)

Thanks but its more street rod than traditional
It's Suspension is not HAMB friendly so I can't show the rest.
Lets just say it will handel a autocross course better than some sports cars ;)

After looking at a couple chops here if the door tops matched the windshield top it would not be horrible.
I use the area above the windshield for the wiper motors a little square radio made by Jensen from a JCB skid steer, and switches for lights, amplifiers, a really small digital mini tac and my cellphone and wallet that way it's out of site looking in and keeps the dash and floor clear of clutter .

If I was building it from scratch id stretch the cab a few inches behind the doors . My dad started on this in about 1979. I finally got my hands on it last year . It's got about 400hp a blast to drive on twisty backroads
