  2. I love this picture... it reminds me of three of my aunts! Young, cute, funny and full of piss-and-vinegar!
The three of them, along with my Mom were at a local watering hole having a little "girl time" when a guy walked over to their table and complimented one of them on her great looking legs (he thought it was a great pick-up line). She gently shut him down with "These old things? I've had them for years!" The four of them were my family's version of a wrecking crew! May they all R.I.P. with all my love and respect!

This photo reminds me of the guy who tutored me in math as a kid. I would ride my bike to his house and we would study in his kitchen. One day while I was waiting for him to start the cl*** I opened the door in the kitchen leading out to his single car garage. In the darkness I could make out a 32 coupe similar to this one. I never did get much better with math after that day.

Excuse me for misidentifying Bob ! It’s been a very long time since that day. The cobra with the GTO type vents cut into the nose is the first cobra with a big block. Ken hit the only tree standing on the track. Worked all night trying to repair it for the race. Him and John Morton DNF after a short stint on track.

That was my hometown. I would ride my bicycle to the strip every Saturday it was open.

    Hello,

We all fell for the TV show 77 Sunset Strip. Our mom was enamoured with the stars in the show. She even asked our dad to take her to 77 Sunset Strip. So, one night, our dad took our mom to the restaurant for a night out with no cooking for our mom. She was happy and thought she was going to see Ed “Kookie” Burns stop and get their car to park in the back.

Obviously, the parking attendant was non-existent and they parked in the back. When they got inside, the place was dark and the food was ok. Not excellent, but ok. Some folks will say it was fabulous, but our mom was an excellent cook and had specific tastes. So, if she says it was ok, then look elsewhere for “excellent” food.

upload_2024-11-19_4-30-30.png The awning shows 77 Sunset Strip address… There is no 77 Sunset Strip. The real address is 8524 Sunset Blvd...

As far as Hollywood/Los Angeles restaurants were concerned, she did not like the food at Dino’s, but miles away, she love the food and atmosphere of the Brown Derby restaurant with its derby hat structure. Her favorite was the new “Cobb” salad. No other restaurant had this new salad and she looked at it, tasted it and knew how to make it at home. So, as much as we did not like salads, my brother and I readily ate the Cobb Salad our mom made.

When my wife was first introduced to my mom and dad, we were dating and serious about being together. So, a family dinner and family talk at the table was in order. The one thing she could not get over was the new “Cobb Salad” my mom made and served everyone. It was fabulous and she continues to rave about it in our history discussion, even today. YRMV
