  4. I was looking at '64 Country Sedans on Bring A Trailer last night... I had a couple of them and always liked the big Fords.

I love wagons,i'm seeing some really great ones in the above post. I got my first used wagon in 64,a 57 2D Ford { had a bad 6 in it,I put in a Y-V8 272,and was great for a few years. Replaced it another used wagon.
I've had to this point in time 18 used wagons, never new, added trailer hitch to every one,do to using all of them as both every day an tow for my race cars/trailer. I may be on my last wagon, a used 05 Dodge Magnum. Going on 82 YO. But most weekends now days,,still drive my 28A hotrod.

    Hello,

With a little creativity, those highly paid designers could have stayed with the 55-57 Nomad design and used it on a 58 Impala station wagon as a 2 door. The four door could have also used a “hardtop” version, too. Similar to the 4 door hardtop sedans. So much for the nice try on the factory produced, 1958 “Nomad” wagon…
upload_2024-11-11_4-29-20.png A hot rod Impala surf wagon, alas, 2 door Nomad Style would have sold tons to the general public, let alone hot rod/surfers for their adventures.

Another version of the 2 door style 1958 Impala Nomad Style wagon could have been a contender, too.

For those that like sedan deliveries instead of station wagons there would also be one for you. Once the 2 door wagon was made, a simple panel in the place of the rear side windows would make a private sedan delivery.

348 C.I. 315 h.p. 4 speed, A/C, 3:55 Positraction gears, and a one piece raising rear door. Fast, efficient for long distance road trip adventures and secure to boot. YRMV

I have been a wagon fan ever since i was supposed to be buying a 49 chevy wagon that was coming in on trade at Yenkos. the salesman had alerted me and I went to the owners house to scope it out before the tradein. turned out to be a woody wagon, brush painted white, inside & out. i was hot for it. but the owners never made the deal. I was so disapointed that later in life I bought every 49-52 chevy wagon i found (4). even a couple oldsmobiles (2). 52wag1.jpg 52gone1.JPG olds wag41.JPG CIMG6785.JPG

  13. Love this! Our family car when I was in high school was a fire-engine-red '62 Valiant station wagon with a nice roof rack. We built an 8-foot pram from plans out of Boy's Life magazine and fished streams all over western and southwestern Missouri. Boat fit perfectly into the back or onto the roof. I didn't think all that much of driving a station wagon at the time but in hindsight, I'd be tickled to drive that car around now.

Funny you say that. The guy I sold it to works at Edwards AFB and lives in the area which is the Mohave desert. He uses it as a fishing rig on weekends heading into the mountain to fish. Friend of mine saw it and he fishing poles sticking out the back of the car.
