I got a Wix filter yesterday Made in China. No where on the box did it say that but it did on the filter
They think out of the box how to hide they are the source. I find it a lot in food. Frozen fish sold in paper bags at Walmart you have to unfold the pleats on the side of the bag to reveal its from them.
Mann-Hummel bought WIX several years ago and have been ruining the company in my opinion. Supply chain issues, and quality issues seem to be a problem since they started making filters all over the world.
Kind of makes you wonder how many imitations of products are out there. I bet it’s mind boggling! I think a lot of what you buy online is counterfeit.
Some years ago I bought a new starter solenoid; the box said Made In USA. The solenoid said Made In Mexico.
Bottom line is if you want to pay $10 for an oil filter you get Chinese, Indian or Mexican product, you dont mind paying $50 then you might get USA made. that’s capitalism folks!!!
Been a mixed bag with Wix since they got bought out. I'm sure many already know this, but Napa Gold are made by Wix. Coincidentally, I've never gotten a Napa Gold that wasn't made in the USA. Don't know if there's a reason for that or it's just been luck.
I've moved to Napa Gold as well. Once a month Napa does friends & family prices. Usually around 25% cheaper.
Some here may dis- agree but, I use K&N filters. A little pricy but a damn well made filter in my opinion. I have also used Napa Gold for many years.
I see it at work everyday, my company supports conveyance at an Amazon facility. So many Delco, Gates, etc boxes around and if you read the print something like “assembled in the USA from parts made in China or Mexico”. Heck, Goodyear bicycle tubes say “made in china” on the box. So as mentioned, just buy what’s affordable to you, take a chance. what else can you do?
The Mexican,Chineese, Cambodian, Taiwan, South Korean, Vietnamese, UK, African, Afganastan…….. parts are hanging in there with my US parts on my old beater.
Well…..just bought a Wix XP filter , because the parts house didn’t have a regular Wix filter. Went out and took a look at it…..it is made in Mexico! Better than China, but not much! Bones
Rock Auto gets a portion of their stock from wholesale closeouts. Very possibly thos made in USA filters were old stock. Nothing wrong with that, but understand Wix hasn’t been owned by Dana for many years now. They’ve been owned by Mann & Hummel since 2016, and Mann & Hummel has 80 plants all over the world, including a half dozen in China.
Seems like Wally World got into trouble for creating a brand of clothing line called " Made in USA". It was most definitely not, so they got spanked. I think there is specific regulatory guidance out there now, that specifically says you can't do this now.
&, sadly, from readings all over, seems Fram is one of the worst... 1st trouble ever in decades I had w/Wix was the last one I bought - blew out 6qts new Mobile1 after oil/filter change. Nice QC on the relief-valve... Didn't look to see where it was made, didn't care. The no-additional-cost-replacement the store gave me worked ok, but I ate the cost of those 6qts Mobile1. Wasn't all that happy... Marcus...
About as reliable source as "Internet vaccine experts" and other conspiracy theories. Quote "My uncle's wife's gynaecologist's friend used a Fram filter and it wasn't any good" Fram filters [especially the HP Series] have been the racer's choice down our way for 50+ years. I've never seen or heard of any Fram filter directly causing engine damage in spite of what all the internet "witchdoctors" claim A Fram filter won't save your engine if you down shift too early.
I was curious how many actual people were manufacturing oil filters vs rebranding. Way more than I thought. https://www.automotive-filter.com/news/details/2618.html
When I was a kid , I hated parts from Japan , today I’m happy to get something for Japan . My old HD hydraulic forks made in JAPAN
